SCHERER SPORT PHX to race Porsche 911 GT3 R for Nürburgring 24 Hours.
In the 2025 season, SCHERER SPORT PHX will compete for the first time with two brands in the SP9 class, from which the overall winners of the Nürburgring Endurance Series and the Nürburgring 24 Hours come. In addition to the proven Audi R8 LMS, the team from Meuspath will also be fielding a Porsche 911 GT3 R in parallel for the first time at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The debut for the team's new Stuttgart GT3 sports car will be the second NLS race, the ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy on 26 April 2025.
"With Audi and Porsche, we sell two brands with a very sporty profile in the Scherer Group," explains Christian Scherer, CEO of the Scherer Group and founder of SCHERER SPORT PHX. "The Audi R8 LMS is our successful model to date. As last year's winner of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, we are proud to return this year with the number 1 in our Audi. At the same time, we are very excited about the Porsche 911 GT3 R. A year ago, we were second in the Cup 2 class with Porsche in the 24-hour race. Now we want to be among the best in the leading category with the 911 as well." After SCHERER SPORT PHX competed with the Audi R8 LMS at the NLS season opener in March, a driver duo will share the Porsche 911 GT3 R for the second race: The 33-year-old Swiss Patric Niederhauser returns after having previously contested endurance races for Phoenix Racing. He was also champion of the ADAC GT Masters in 2019. His teammate is the 43-year-old Frenchman Patrick Pilet, who has been competing in Porsche cockpits since 2007, is at home in many racing series around the world and was the overall winner of the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2018.
"Competing in the top class with a new brand is a challenge that we are happy to accept," says Ron Moser, team principal of SCHERER SPORT PHX since this year. "We have invested a lot of work in preparing our team optimally for the 911 GT3 R. We have already refined the tuning during tests. At the same time, we still have an intensive program ahead of us. The NLS-2 race is the next stage, because that's where we face the competition for the first time. The objective is clear: Of course we want to fight for the best places."
In addition to the technical preparation of the Porsche 911 GT3 R, its experienced mechanics and the experienced driver line-up, SCHERER SPORT PHX relies on another decisive factor: a first-class engineering team. "With Sébastien Breuil, we have hired an experienced and successful professional who will take us forward and whom we know very well," adds Ron Moser. In 2018 and 2019, the Frenchman was Technical Director DTM and GT3 at Phoenix Racing, and in 2019 he won the Nürburgring 24 Hours as race engineer for the leading Audi. Last year, as GT3 project manager, he achieved another overall 24-hour victory with the Belgian team Comtoyou – this time at Spa-Francorchamps.
While the line-up of SCHERER SPORT PHX brands for the 2025 endurance season has been determined, the driver line-up for the Nürburgring 24 Hours will follow in the next step. "I can already say to our supporters: Be prepared for one or two surprises," Christian Scherer promises the many fans of the world's biggest car race.
