PSCCE 2023 season final at Most – all champions crowned

It was a great final weekend for the PSCCE 2023 at Most in the Czech Republic, where also the weather cooperated very well to crowing the new PSCCE Champions: After a cloudy morning the sun came out around midday on race day to provide the stage for a lot of action, close fighting and finally great celebrations of the successful competitors.

Qualifying already brought some interesting action: Milan Sitniansky claimed pole position for the first sprint race. The local hero set his time in a last minute effort to finish 0.079 seconds ahead of German Ulrich Ziegler, also a Pro-Am class competitor, with Pro-driver Clemens Stadler from Austria in P3. German Herman Geiss in P5 of the general classification was fastest in the Am category.

For race 2, Ziegler set pole ahead of Stadler and Sitniansky, with Austrian Leo Willert in P4 overall fastest Am-driver. The second qualy session had to be red-flagged for about 10 minutes due to a crash of Peter Brunner.

Ulrich Ziegler then won the first sprint race ahead of Stadler. The Safety-Car had to come out for 13 minutes during lap 2, after Franz Dziwok/Poland and Petr Brecka/Czech Republic had a collision in Turn 1, which sadly meant that both cars where out for the rest of the day and also stripped Dziwok of his championship winning hopes. It was also bad news for pole sitter Milan Sitniansky, who lost the lead after the re-start and finally came home third, while Herbert Geiss in P5 overall was on top of the Am category.

Sitniansky then got his home victory in race two: After a very close fight of the Top 3 over 16 laps and overtaking Stadler in the first and Ziegler in the third lap, he finally finished a second ahead of his German and less than two seconds ahead of his Austrian competitor. Herbert Geiss from Germany for the second time of the day finished on top of the Am class, 4th overall, after Leo Willert lost his chances due to an early spin and later had to retire his car.

The final race of the PSCCE season 2023, the “100 Miles of Czech Republic”, brought again a lot of action from lap 1: Ulrich Ziegler in car nr. 17 had a spin in Turn 1, Clemens Stadler could avoid a collision, but both lost quite a bit of ground and had to make their way up through the field again. So before the driver changes, Milan Sitniansky was in the lead ahead of Herbert Geiss and Stadler.

It got even more eventful in the second half of the race. Jan Seyfferth, now in car 17, had a spin in the last corner and to recover the car, the Safety Car had to come out for the first time, just after Greiss had passed Jiri Kalista, who had taken over from Sitniansky in for the lead. After the re-start, Stadler had a coming together with Kalista and dropped back to P8 again. Then, just after Arne Hoffmeister, who made up a lot of ground in car number 44, had passed Kalista, at lap 32 Günther Benninger had a spin at the same place like Seyfferth before. His car also has to be recovered under the SC.

When the race was green flagged again, there was only one lap to go – but an action filled one: Herbert Geiss, who had been leading the race now for quite some time, was overtaken by Hoffmeister. Geiss lost the car in turn 2 and went through the gravel, but while he was able to continue, he dropped back to P7 in the final lap of the race and the season.

So finally, a rather surprising victory went to André Fischer and Arne Hoffmeister from Germany, ahead of the Czech pairing of Milan Sitniansky and Jiri Kalista and Alex Ellinger and Beat Ganz from Austria/Switzerland. The winners in the Am category were Leo Willert/Austria and Freddy Kremer/Germany,

After all the racing action is finished for the year, PSCCE can now congratulate all its new champions:
Clemens Stadler, winner of two the Spint and Endurance overall titles!
Herbert Geiss, winner of the Sprint and Endurance title in the Am category!
Alexander Ellinger and Beat Ganz from Switzerland, Endurance Pro-Am champions!
Milan Sitniansky, winner of the Pro-Am Sprint championship!
Starent, winner of the Team championship!
