Successful start for Earl Bamber Motorsport in the Intercontinental GT World Challenge
Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM) has within recent months expanded their operations into the European GT scene and will be shifting some of their focus towards Europe after a promising start to their Intercontinental GT Challenge campaign.
The EBM squad fielded a car in the 24 Hours of Spa returning to the IGTC championship for the first time since the Bathurst 12 Hour in 2020.
The 24 Hours of Spa brought great success for the team as they endured setbacks which included a gearbox failure in qualifying and an electrical issue causing a lap to be lost in the early hours of the morning. Despite this they made it to the 24-hour mark, and finished 20th overall and were fifth in the PROAM category. This was a tremendous success for the team, as they were one of only six Porsches out of the twelve entered to survive the night and cross the finish line.
“They told us leading in that it would be a 24-Hour sprint and it was exactly that”, said Will Bamber who drove alongside Reid Harker, Carlos Rivas and Wolfgang Triller in the #61 EBM Giga Racing Entry.
As well as a first appearance at Spa the team also fielded a car in the Porsche Sprint Challenge France championship at Le Mans in mid-August with Adrian Henry D’Silva racing in the GT3 R category.
Adrian brought the car home to finish 3rd in class and grab another podium to add to EBM’s growing list of 2021 achievements.
Earl Bamber Motorsport is set to compete next week in the ‘Intercontinental GT World Challenge’s Indianapolis 8 Hour Race’ with drivers Adrian D’Silva, Jeff Kingsley, and Nicholas Boulle.
