Superior start-to-finish victory for defending champion Larry ten Voorde

The eventful season opener for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup ended with a clear victory for reigning champion Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite). The Dutchman controlled the twice-interrupted race on the famous Monte Carlo street circuit and crossed the finish line more than three seconds ahead of New Zealander Jaxon Evans (Martinet by Alméras).

“That was a tailor-made start to the season,” said winner Ten Voorde. “I pushed hard on the first few laps to get myself a head start on Jaxon Evans - he was what I feared the most. My tactic worked, towards the end I was even able to slacken off a bit and control the gap. ”The exciting duel for third place was won by rookie Dorian Boccolacci (Martinet by Alméras) from France, who was responsible for all attacks by the Austrian Christopher Zöchling (FACH AUTO TECH) could fend off.

The first run of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, in which the Esso Renewable Racing Fuel produced from regenerative sources was used, got off to a hectic start. After just a few meters, several vehicles collided with each other in the uphill section towards the casino. The blocked route led to the race being interrupted. Six drivers then had to forego the restart behind the safety car. Due to another slip in the guardrails, the safety car neutralized the season opener that had just started again, this time for one lap.

After the two restarts, ten Voorde maintained the lead and then moved away from pursuer Evans by tenths of a second. For his part, the New Zealander is gaining a head start over Boccolacci and Zöchling on the traditional Formula 1 racetrack. Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven, on the other hand, was unlucky. In fifth place, the Turk had to give up shortly before the finish due to a technical problem. His team mate at BWT Lechner Racing, Dylan Pereira from Luxembourg, on the other hand, offered the race to catch up. The fastest in free practice had to start the race from 27th and penultimate place after an accident in qualifying. The sports soldier crossed the finish line in eleventh place and secured five championship points with this brilliant performance.

In addition to ex-Formula 2 driver Boccolacci, who made a strong debut in Porsche's international one-make cup with third place, Briton Harry King (Parker Revs Racing) and Ludovico Laurini from Italy (Dinamic Motorsport) completed the rookie podium. The ProAm classification was won by the Frenchman Clément Mateu (Pierre Martinet by Alméras) ahead of the Austrian Philipp Sager (Dinamic Motorsport).
