Top-ten performance for Parker Revs Motorsport at official Porsche Supercup tests
Parker Revs Motorsport has enjoyed a successful start to the 2021 Porsche Supercup season after recording top-ten performances at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy, at the official championship test days.
With two busy days of running, it was the perfect opportunity for the team and drivers, Harry King and Josh Webster, to get to grips with the brand-new 992-style Porsche 911 GT3 Cup which has been introduced for 2021.
After a day of testing at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium last week, the team were straight on it at Monza, with Harry finishing the first session tenth and Josh 13th, the pair ending the opening day eighth and 19th, respectively.
Back on the pace for the second day, Harry finished the final session fifth quickest, with Josh just a handful of tenths of a second behind. In the combined times across all four sessions over both days of practice, Harry ended up eighth and Josh 17th, both drivers within a second of the fastest time overall.
The team and drivers will now reflect on a busy two days before the season gets underway on the streets of Monte Carlo, supporting the Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend of May 20-23.
Harry King
“I am quite happy with how things have gone. I was well within the top ten which was my target and finished P5 at the end of the second day. We were at the top of the timesheet for much of the afternoon, so I am quite proud of what we achieved. We have learnt a lot this week coming off the back of a test day at Spa, so it is reassuring that we are capable of being well within the top ten and potentially top three.
“Josh and I are still getting used to the car as it is very different and coming off the back of a successful season it is important to realign my expectations. I can’t immediately walk into Supercup and expect to start winning, but I think it is promising that we are this competitive this early on. I am looking forward to hitting the streets of Monaco and am leaving Italy pretty satisfied and proud of what we achieved, and it makes me excited for the future.”
Josh Webster
“The test was a positive one for us all. I am still a little bit on the back foot with a lack of seat time over the past five months so playing catch up but found time over the two days and we know that there is a lot more potential in the times I did.
“I am still adapting to the driving style of the new car but feel confident that we will keep progressing and tailoring the car to my driving style. We should be closer to the ultimate pace heading into round one at Monaco which is something I am looking forward to. It is a track I know well from my previous experience in Supercup.”
