Wright Motorsports Doubles Opportunities to Win with Pro and Pro/Am Entries at Road America

After a two-month summer break, the Wright Motorsports SRO America efforts are ready to resume racing this weekend at Road America. The team’s two full-season Porsche entries will return to competition in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, with the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Adam Adelson competing in the GT America championship as well as the Fanatec GT World Challenge America championship with co-driver Elliott Skeer in the Pro Am class. Undergoing a recent driver change, the No. 45 entry will complete its first race weekend in the Pro class with drivers Jan Heylen and Madison Snow.

“While our SRO America cars haven’t been racing, our team has been hard at work preparing for the final three race weekends of the season,” said Team Owner John Wright. “We’ve recently completed some testing, and we’re looking forward to returning to Road America and continuing to fight for those wins.”

When the GT World Challenge America championship last left off, the crew of the No. 45 Porsche celebrated a third-place finish with Charlie Luck and Heylen, as Adelson and Skeer finished right behind in fourth in the No. 120. The two entries have showed strong pace and consistency in the 2023 season, placing in the top five for 12 of 16 opportunities. With four wins together, Adelson and Skeer have proven themselves to be a formidable pair, currently leading the Pro-Am championship points battle in both the driver and team categories.

Meanwhile, this weekend will bring Heylen and Snow back together for the first time as co-drivers since 2015. As previously announced, the No. 45 Porsche will undergo a lineup change for the remainder of the season, following an injury to Luck’s left kidney. Former Wright driver Madison Snow will join Heylen, advancing the effort to the Pro class. The move of the No. 45 to the main class in the headlining series will give the team the opportunity to fight for wins in the same race, twice over the course of the weekend.

In GT America, Adelson returns to the single-driver series after missing the doubleheader on the streets of Nashville. Having recently participated in the IMSA race weekend at Road America, the young racer has the track fresh in his mind, ready to add to the accumulation of the three podiums he has earned so far this season.

In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Wright Motorsports performed at Road America in front of a record-breaking crowd just two weeks ago and will be eager to get back to the fan-favorite track.

Saturday will host the first pair of races, with GT America, beginning at 12:55 PM CT, immediately followed by GT World Challenge America race one at 3:10 PM CT. The second pair of races will conclude the weekend on Sunday, August 20, with GT America taking the green flag at 8:45 AM, and GT World Challenge America at 2:15 PM CT. All races will air live on youtube.com/gtworld.

DRIVER QUOTES

ADAM ADELSON I'm super excited to get back into the action at Road America, as our results at VIR left something to be desired. I've been preparing and training hard for this race, as I know our competitors are going to bring their A game, and it'll take everything we have to stay in the position that we're in. The fact that Road America was recently resurfaced adds another challenge, but I believe that Wright, Elliott, and myself possess what's needed to be fighting at the front the way we have been all season.

ELLIOTT SKEER

It's felt like an eternity since the previous round of GTWC and I know that both Adam and I cannot wait to get back into the fight at Road America again. Since VIR, we have built good momentum both in other racing series and with extremely successful tests with Wright. Road America has always been a good track to us and I do not see any reason why it shouldn’t treat us the same this weekend. With only three weekends left in the season and the points effectively tied, it's time for us to take everything we have learned this year and put it to the test. It will also be a strange feeling not having Charlie Luck in the sister car, and we all hope for a speedy recovery and to see him back in the car very soon. Having Madison a part of the team brings some throwback energy into the team and all the ingredients we need to replicate some of the fantastic results WM have accomplished this season so far.

JAN HEYLEN

I want to start by saying thank you to Charlie for giving me and Madison the opportunity to finish up the season together while he recovers and gets ready for 2024! I look forward to having Charlie on the radio with us and I hope we can make him proud with some good results! I’m excited to be sharing the car again with Madison after a seven-year break! He’s been a longtime friend of mine, as well as a friend of the Wright Motorsports family, and we’re all excited to have him back on the team.

MADISON SNOW

Road America always puts on a great event with a ton of fans. It’s a great place to travel to and fun to race around. Being my first weekend in SRO this year there will be a lot to learn, but I’m confident with the support of a great team like Wright Motorsports, we can perform well.
