A double program for TFT with the 24 Hours of Spa on the menu

SRO

The year 2020 was the year for TFT to discovered the Porsche 911 GT3 R on two international programs competing in both the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the International GT Open. This year 2021 TFT Motorsport will again take part in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and have also confirmed a commitment to the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

“Our entry into the GT3 world last year was eventful but we proved our worth with convincing results. This first season went through a commitment to the International GT Open in the AM category as well as in the Michelin Le Mans Cup (mandatory Pro-Am crew) with various fortunes. When we were playing in front in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, this was not the case in GT Open, which is mainly explained by the Balance of Performance which was not favorable to the Porsche. Despite the good will of the organizer, this could not be settled during the season.

We have a need to aim for the best, so this has had an impact on our choice. With the experience gained during this first season in GT3, we are reorienting our 2021 program with the desire to see bigger. It will be based on two main projects, always with the Porsche 911 GT3R: confirm in Michelin The Mans Cup and aim for a first participation in the 24H Spa (crews) to complete!). We are also open to the possibility of adding participations in GT Rebellion Series or GT World Challenge to this program.

Michelin Le Mans Cup: a top-level championship behind the wheel of an exceptional car

For our first season in GT3 and thus in Michelin Le Mans Cup, we marked the spirits with 2 victories and a 3rd place in the championship. Being the only Porsche representative, we have shown that the Porsche 911 GT3R is a powerful car that you have to rely on to win! For this 2021 season, we are choosing to continue in this series with high goals. We will try to confirm our 2020 results. The project is to hire two Porsche 911 GT3Rs always accompanied by Porsche Motorsport. The first will be driven by Niki Leutwiler (faithful to Team TFT Racing and supported by the Porsche Centre of Oberer Zurich) supported by a Pro driver. A second car is under consideration, the seats are still to be filled!

This series that runs LMP3 and GT3 offers a unique formula for all competitors: crews must be composed of a Pro driver and an Am driver. This allows clarity and fairness between crews. The weekend format is broken down as follows: 2 free practice, 1 qualif (reserved for the AM driver), 1 2-hour race. The Michelin Le Mans Cup is also an opportunity to ride in the curtain-raiser of the 24h of Le Mans: this is the Road To Le Mans. Every driver hopes to live this experience one day in his career: ride on the 24-hour circuit. Team TFT Racing offers it! The format changes for this race: in the program 2 qualifiers (one for each driver) and 2 races of 55 minutes.2

24H Spa (29-30-31 July and 1 August): a unique experience

This is THE benchmark of GT racing! With only GT3s on the track (divided into 4 categories depending on the composition of the crews of 3 to 4 drivers: Pro, Pro-Am, Silver and Am), the level is more than raised. This second part of our 2021 project is a real challenge. Accustomed to endurance races in different championships (24H Series, VdeV Endurance Proto), Team TFT Racing has a strong case for a good showing in this legendary race. In addition, we offer interested drivers the opportunity to take control of a high-performance car: the Porsche 911 GT3R. Porsche has proven its effectiveness on the Belgian circuit as it is one of the most successful manufacturers in the Toboggan of the Ardennes. Two-time title holder (overall wins in 2019 and 2020), the performance makes the case for this car as evidenced by the 2020 classification: 3 Porsches in the first 4 places. As a Porsche Customer Team, TFT Racing can draw on the expertise and experience of one of the most recognized manufacturers.

In order to prepare for this legendary race which will be the highlight of the season, in addition to the official tests that will take place on 22-23 June, we can consider participating in the endurance races of the GT Wolrd Challenge Europe which precedes the 24H Spa: Monza in April and Castellet at the end of May.
