CALM All Porsche Trophy and 750 motor club lead the race for motorsport carbon reduction

The CALM All Porsche Trophy and all the races run by the 750 motor club are set to become the world's first carbon neutral club racing initiative by partnering with newly created environmental project Racezero.org, the brainchild of club racers Philip Waters & Simon Walker – Hansell. This project contributes to carbon reduction by offsetting all the carbon produced by a client race series.

Racezero.org calculates how much energy is used by everyone involved with a race series including the amount of fuel burned by the competitor's track cars, team support vehicles, spectators, officials and marshals, and even the carbon contribution made by local hotels and other accommodation. The offset is achieved by ensuring that for every tonne of CO2 emitted during race activity there is one tonne less in the atmosphere elsewhere.

The CALM All Porsche Trophy is the first series to partner with Racezero.org as founder and organiser Philip Waters explains:

"The UK is at the epicentre of the motor sport universe, with over 30,000 competition licence holders, teams, volunteer marshals and officials - not to mention legions of spectators and fans. Every year they attend events across the UK at every level from major International meetings right down to a huge array of amateur grass roots series. Although smaller than the carbon footprint of most other sports, the impact of all this activity on the environment has become a concern, and we looked for a way that our series could make its own offsetting contribution and reduce our environmental impact. Meeting Simon, we quickly realised that his new project was exactly in tune with our own ambitions, and so came to an agreement that the CALM All Porsche Trophy would become the launchpad for this great environmental initiative, and that from now on, we will offset all our series’ emissions through Racezero.org. It’s yet another reason for drivers to join a series that is now well established as the UK’s most affordable for all Porsche models, and making a positive contribution to carbon reduction at the same time. The CALM AllPorsche Trophy is just the first of many series set to sign up with Racezero.org and already the 750MC are planning to work with Racezero to offset all their series and championships during 2021.”

The unique series allows all Porsche models to compete over 6 race meetings in 2021 and is only one of a few championship world wide that is run entirely to raise money for the charity; CALM. Open to all Porsches of any age or persuasion, providing great value racing – with the ethos of safe and gentlemanly driving standards. Entries are open to the 924, 944, 968, 928, Boxster, Cayman and beyond. Race meetings consist of a 40 minute sprint with every participant undergoing an enforced one minute pit stop when the driver can be changed, the faster cars will be held in the pit for longer thereby enforcing a handicap system. The concept has been run the he past two seasons and was very warmly received.
