Crowds back as Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia visits Falkenberg

Classic West Coast race in Falkenberg ends the "first half" of Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia 2021. The competition will be the first in the championship with an audience since the Corona pandemic hit Sweden. "It will be cool to be able to drive in front of an audience again. It's been a while," says defending champion Lukas Sundahl.

The crowd will be back when Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia and Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia stop at Falkenberg Motorbana 9-11 July. In accordance with new recommendations from the authorities, the competition will be held with a maximum of 600 spectators in the audience per day.

Double victory last year

Lukas Sundahl has started the season as the champion he is – five straight wins and maximum points in the table. Växjösonen comes to the West Coast Race with strong confidence and a good feeling in his body.
"It has worked incredibly well so far in the championship. Knutstorp was great and Anderstorp was also good even though the margins there were a little less bit," says Sundahl.

The last time he competed at Falkenbergs Motorbana was in the premiere in 2020. He won both races ahead of Pontus Fredricsson.
"Qualifying could have been better, but we managed to take pole position in both races even though I had my fastest lap eliminated in any of the qualifying rounds. The race was pretty good and I remember pontus also had good speed. He likes the track, too.

Technical challenge

Falkenbergs Motorbana is Sundahl's favorite in the calendar.
"The reason I like Falkenberg so much is that the course is fast and technically challenging. If you lose a tenth in the first turn, it is difficult to catch up with it elsewhere, given that the lap is only 40 seconds. It's really hard," says Sundahl, who of course hopes to extend his winning streak on the West Coast. “It's always fun to win," he says, smiling.
