Double win for Sundahl in a masterful start in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia

Lukas Sundahl has done it again - scored maximum points in a premiere weekend in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. He did it in Falkenberg last year and the wish award came at Ring Knutstorp on Saturday. The reigning champion not only won both premier races in the championship. With double pole positions and fastest laps in both races, he also saw to it that he brought four extra points home to Växjö. - This was pretty good. A perfect start to the season, he stated afterwards.

Lukas Sundahl, who is chasing his fourth title in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, won both the premiere race from pole position. At first he was challenged by Pontus Fredricsson, but after a tight first curve, Sundahl still came out in the lead. He kept it all the way to the finish. Fredricsson was second and Hugo Andersson managed to pinch third place despite being heavily courted by both Edvin Hellsten and Emil Persson towards the end.

In the second heat, it was Hampus Ericsson who shared the first starting line-up with Lukas Sundahl, but he did not manage to catch up either. Ericsson did not get off to a perfect start and it took advantage of Emil Persson who managed to get past. In the eleventh lap, however, Ericsson countered and then retained second place all the way to the finish. But once there, he got rid of it. Ericsson was penalized with a five-second extra time for driving off the track and fell to sixth place, the same position he had in race one. The verdict was discussed and Ericsson's team filed a protest. It was rejected.

Instead of Ericsson, Emil Persson was second and Hugo Andersson took a new third place. ”I am satisfied. A good much stronger start than last year, said a happy Andersson, who with double 17 points is second behind Sundahl in the championship table after the premiere. ”It will be difficult to beat him, but continue to do everything we can”, Andersson says.

Emil Persson, who did his second race in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, was of course also pleased with the opening of the championship. “I got a fifth and second so I am satisfied, the goal was to take as many points as possible”, says Persson, who is only two points behind Andersson in the table.

Edvin Hellsten also had the goal of getting on the podium. The Gothenburger was close in both races, but had to settle for fourth and fifth place. It is a result that is enough for fourth place in the championship before the second part of the competition which will be decided in Anderstorp 18-19 June.

Porsche Sweden's guest car was driven during the premiere weekend by Fredrik Ekblom. The three-time STCC champion was treated to a tough comeback. Seventh place in the first heat, however, he followed up with a fourth place in the second where he offered a couple of nice overtaking.

In the Masters Cup, the class for drivers over 40, Christoffer Bergström and Thomas Karlsson shared the two victories and second places. Prince Carl Philip was third in the first heat, but was forced to break the second where Krister Andero had to step up on the podium instead.
