Instructive weekend for Marc Halusa in the Eifel

The second race weekend of the Porsche Endurance Challenge took place at the Nürburgring. The Eifel region greeted the participants with typical weather conditions – rainfall, a drying track, wind and cold temperatures made life difficult for the Porsche drivers. In the one-hour race, Marc Halusa shared a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport fielded by SEEBACH Motorsport with the experienced driver Philip Schauerte.

In qualifying, Schauerte was able to achieve a strong starting position for the car. The experienced driver, from whom Marc Halusa was able to learn a lot over the weekend, qualified the Cayman in a strong second place in class. Accordingly, the duo went into the one-hour race on Sunday afternoon optimistic.

But the race was not easy for the duo. Schauerte was hit by a competitor directly in the first corner. As a direct result, the steering wheel was crooked and the Cayman's PSM system failed, making it more difficult to control the vehicle at the limit. The crooked steering wheel also hindered the drivers during the driver change, during which Halusa took over the car, which is why valuable time was lost again during the mandatory pit stop.

After the driver change, it began to rain and Halusa had to head for the SEEBACH Motorsport crew again, which equipped the GT4 car with rain tyres. In the slippery conditions, some drivers went off the track and the safety car was also called to the track so that the stewards could safely recover a vehicle. After the difficult course of the race, Halusa finished the race at the end of the class.

"I was able to learn a lot over the weekend," said the pilot from Bad Dürrenberg in Saxony-Anhalt. "Of course, I had hoped for a better result after the strong qualifying, but we got the best out of the difficult race and brought the car home safely. This was the most important thing so that I could learn as much as possible in the difficult conditions. A big thank you to the SEEBACH Motorsport team for once again providing us with such a strong car and to my family and the Porsche Centre Leipzig for their great support!"

The Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland, of which the Porsche Endurance Challenge is an important part, continues on 13 and 14 July at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. "The Red Bull Ring is my favourite circuit on this year's calendar and I'm really looking forward to the weekend! I think it's fantastic how the track is located in the landscape. In addition, I personally enjoy the course with its high-speed sections!" concludes Halusa.
