KCMG Eager for Nordschleife return in NLS 3

NLS

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) aims to build on its successful start to the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS) in Round 3 this weekend, as they continue to prepare for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Nürburgring in May.

Dennis Olsen and Josh Burdon scored a podium finish in the first round of the series last month, showing strong pace and driving through the field to finish third on the fearsome Nordschleife circuit. The team was set to take part in the second round of the season on 8-9 April before its postponement due to adverse weather conditions.

Both Olsen and Burdon return for Round 3 on 22-23 April, and they will be joined in the #18 Porsche 911 GT3 R by two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans overall winner Earl Bamber.

The New Zealand native has enjoyed a successful career at the top tier of endurance racing with Porsche, taking the 2017 World Endurance Championship crown and the GTLM title in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, in addition to his Le Mans victories. Bamber has also previously competed for KCMG, driving for the team at the 2020 ADAC TOTAL 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

NLS 3 marks the final round of the series on the 25.378-kilometre circuit until the Hong-Kong based squad return to the Nordschleife for the ADAC TotalEnergies 24 of Nürburgring Qualifiers on 6-8 May. KCMG, in partnership with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific, will be looking to keep up their momentum from the opening round ahead of the main event on 26-29 May.

DENNIS OLSEN
“Since the postponement of NLS 2, we’ve had a bit more time to prepare and make further improvements in to be ready for the next race. It’s been special to work together with the team here at the iconic Nordschleife, and we’ve been able to make progress every time we go out onto the circuit. I’m delighted to be back in the car and to be driving flat out on one of the best circuits in the world.”

JOSH BURDON
“I’m excited for NLS 3 this weekend. After a strong start to our season in NLS 1, It’s great to working with the team again and to build on our momentum from the first round. I’m happy to welcome a driver like Earl to the line-up and I’m looking forward to getting back racing again.”

EARL BAMBER
“I’m excited to be returning to the Nürburgring with KCMG for NLS 3. They did a fantastic job earlier in the year at Daytona and at NLS 1, and with the driver line-up they’ve put together, we can have a strong chance this weekend. It’s great to come back to the Nordschleife and I can’t wait to get back on this amazing circuit with the team.”

MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“With the improvements for NLS 3 looking promising, the postponement of the second round hasn’t affected our Nürburgring 24-hour preparation too much. It’s great to have Earl return to KCMG for NLS 3, he did a great job for us in 2020. This year will be as competitive as ever at the Nürburgring so we’re fully focused on gathering more experience over race results, but I’m sure we can challenge for the podium again this weekend.”

PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“The team got off to a brilliant start at NLS 1, taking KCMG’s first podium at the Nordschleife, and they have been pushing to keep the momentum going from the opening round. We’re delighted to welcome Earl back to the team, and along with Dennis and Josh, KCMG can build on the positive result from NLS 1. Now the squad is focused on this weekend and using the race to continue its preparation for the 24-hour race in May.”
