Late lap puts Centri Porsche Ticino’s Busnelli fastest in second practice

Centri Porsche Ticino’s Max Busnelli put down a late flyer to jump to the top of the timing screens at the end of the second GT4 European Series practice session at Monza. The Italian driver just edged out fellow Ebimotors driver Riccardo Pera to make it a Porsche 1-2 in the final session on Friday. Busnelli’s time of 1m57.451 was 0.065s faster than Pera’s fastest time.

Behind the #718 Centri Porsche Ticino and the #10 Ebimotors Porsche it was Charlie Fagg in the #23 United Autosports McLaren rounding out the overall top three. Fagg was the fastest Silver Cup driver in the second practice session.

Jim Pla posted the fourth fastest time overall as the chequered flag waved, putting the #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG third in the Pro-Am Cup, ahead of the #2 CD Sport Mercedes-AMG and the #22 Allied Racing Porsche of Nicolaj Møller-Madsen, who claimed second in the Silver Cup.

The #32 United Autosports McLaren was seventh-fastest and third in Silver, followed by the #15 NM Racing Team Mercedes-AMG.

A late flyer by Berkay Besler meant the #12 Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport BMW was scored in ninth overall, with the #42 Sainteloc Racing Audi completing the top 10 overall in the second official practice session.

Markus Lungstrass set the fastest lap time in the Am Cup. The Hella Pagid - racing one team, however, will have some work on their hands as the #18 Aston Martin went off towards the end of the session. The #69 Team Fullmotorsport Audi was second in class, the #76 Autorlando Sport Porsche was third.

In the first official practice morning session. The #22 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR of Allied Racing was the fastest of the 46 cars taking part in the session.

The former series champion Nicolaj Møller-Madsen managed to put in a fastest time of 1m57.266s early in his first GT4 European Series session of the season. Møller-Madsen’s time was 0.2s faster than that of Jim Pla in the #87 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG, who set the pace in the Pro-Am class.

Behind Pla the drivers were very close to each other. Third-fastest overall, at just 0.008s from Pla, was Max Busnelli in the #718 Centri Porsche Ticino car. The #23 United Autosports McLaren of Bailey Voisin was another millisecond behind in fourth place, with the #8 CMR Toyota of Stéphane Lémeret in fifth at 0.007s from Fagg.

Sixth-fastest overall and third in the Pro-Am Cup was the #10 Ebimotors Porsche of Riccardo Pera and Paolo Gnemmi, ahead of the #30 CMR Alpine of Loris Cabirou. Completing the top ten were three Mercedes-AMG GT4s. The #2 CD Sport car finished the session in eighth, the #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes-AMG was ninth and last year’s runners-up NM Racing Team were tenth fastest.

French drivers Christophe Hamon and Michael Blanchemain were the fastest pairing in the Am Cup, with Hamon setting the fastest time of the session in the #69 Team Fullmotorsport Audi. The #18 Hella Pagid - racing one Aston Martin was second-fastest, with the #76 Autorlando Sport Porsche rounding out the Am Cup top three.
