Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring enters fourth season as Porsche one-make series with newly formed Talent Pool

The Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) will start its fourth season in 2025 as part of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS). The race calendar of the Porsche one-make series includes eight races in which the teams and drivers compete against each other in the Cup 2 and Cup 3 classes. Eight young drivers will receive targeted support in the newly formed PETN Talent Pool. The PETN season opener will see 11 cars in the Cup 2 class and 16 in the Cup 3 class.

The Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, which emerged from the Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey Racing held from 2016 to 2021, is the only Porsche one-make series held on the Nordschleife. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (982) in the Permit A and Permit B classifications in the Cup 3 class and the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) in the Cup 2 class are still eligible to compete. As in the past, the series organiser Manthey will ensure the comprehensive one-make series structure on site and support the teams with technical and spare parts assistance, among others. In addition, prize money totalling €200,000 will be awarded in 2025.

Eight drivers are part of the PETN Talent Pool

New this season is the introduction of the PETN Talent Pool. The aim of this programme is to specifically promote young talent and support them on their way in motorsports. It includes an extensive workshop programme and driver training, including a visit to the simulator at Manthey in Meuspath. At the end of the season, the ‘PETN Junior’ will be selected by a committee based on criteria for driving development and soft skills, and will receive funding for the following season in the PETN through additional incentives for the team. A total of eight drivers are part of the PETN Talent Pool 2025. Alexander Borgmanns from Alnimax Racing, Harley Haughton, Joshua Hislop and Jan-Niklas Stieler from SRS Team Sorg Rennsport, Niklas Koch from Smyrlis Racing, Tim Lukas Müller from EiFelkind-Racing and Moritz Oehme from Team 9und11. In addition, the reigning PEETN Champion Raphael Rennhofer will undergo the training and education of the PETN Talent Pool.

PETN championship rankings 2025

The PETN scoring system will remain unchanged for the 2025 season. Both classes will continue to include a team and a driver ranking. In addition to an overall driver ranking, the drivers' classification differentiates between “PRO/AM” for driver line-ups consisting of professionals and amateurs and “AM” for purely amateur driver pairings. As in previous years, PETN participants will still have the opportunity to take part in the ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring. This also applies to the associated 24-hour qualifiers. Both events are subject to the same technical regulations as the PETN and, as individual events, do not count towards the annual standings of the one-make series. Instead, special bonuses are offered for the successful teams and drivers.

Wide-ranging programme off the racetrack

The aim of the PETN is to offer teams and drivers the best possible environment for their motorsport season at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This includes the continuous development of the supporting programme at the race weekends. In workshops, the Porsche one-make series focuses on driver development, thus offering drivers outside the Talent Pool opportunities to develop further. In addition, a physiotherapist is available on race weekends to provide advice on nutrition and the creation of training plans.

"The fourth season of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring is about to begin and we are looking forward to experiencing exciting racing on the Nordschleife again this year. We are particularly proud of the introduction of the new PETN Talent Pool, which provides a valuable opportunity to specifically promote young drivers and support them in their motorsport career. This marks an important step in the development of our one-make series," says Julia Klee, project manager of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring.

The PETN season starts this weekend with the 70th ADAC Westfalenfahrt. The race starts on Saturday at 12 noon and covers a distance of four hours.
