Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customers return to racing in new GT Super Sprint Challenge series

With Chinese motorsport back in full swing, four Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific customers will contest the inaugural round of the brand new GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) at the Shanghai International Circuit. Open to GT4, GTC, GT3 and GT2 cars, the series provides bronze drivers with two 27-minute sprint races on five weekends at three Chinese venues: Shanghai, Zhuzhou and Ningbo. Porsche will be represented in all three classes that are competing at this weekend’s curtain raiser.

Chinese superstar Kris Wu will make his first race appearance as the Porsche China Motorsport Representative. After debuting at last year’s Porsche Sports Cup China in the GT4 category, Wu will compete in the #911 Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time for his newly launched 20XX Racing team, which will also debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in Shanghai this weekend.

Also racing in the GT3 class with the previous generation #51 Porsche 911 GT3 R (991.1) is YC Racing’s Xiao Min, returning to the track after a stint in the China GT Championship in 2018.

In addition to running 20XX Racing’s GTSSC activities this weekend, Absolute Racing fields the #3 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport with first-time racer Chiu Liang, who will also make an appearance in the Porsche Sprint Challenge China later this year.

Following up on its Porsche Sprint Challenge China outings in 2020, 69 Racing Team makes its return to open championship competition with Yang Ke in the #69 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991.2).
