Race start in 2024 with royal presence on the starting grid in Jönköping

In wintry Sweden, Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia and Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia kicked off the 2024 season in Jönköping, January 20. Under the leadership of Anders Boqvist, brand manager Porsche Sweden, sporting director Thomas Johansson, teams and drivers in both championships were informed about everything essential for the upcoming season. Calendar, organization, regulation updates, technical changes, broadcasting and driver participation status were some of the many items on the agenda.

In addition, Claes Elofsson, chairman of the Swedish Motorsport Association's racing committee, informed everyone that Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia's status as the Swedish championship class for GT cars is extended until season 2027.

On the same evening as the information meeting, Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia´s top three finishers from season 2023 received their medals during annual gala for Swedish motorsport, Bilsportgalan. Gold to Ola Nilsson, silver to Lukas Sundahl and bronze to Hampus Ericsson in front of hundreds of guests at the gala, which was organized in collaboration with Porsche. Nilsson was also awarded Bilsport Awards’ racing driver of the year.

On January 20th, Porsche Sweden revealed the signing of a multi-year agreement with the special fuel manufacturer Aspen. The agreement secures supply of environmentally friendly fuel to both the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia and to the model 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Scandinavia.

The newly developed high-performance fuel from Aspen has a 33 percent admixture of fossil-free components. The collaboration between Porsche Sweden and Aspen is long-term and the ambition is to gradually increase the fossil-free mixture up to one hundred percent to further reduce emissions.

The 2024 calendar, which was presented back in November 2023, will include six races and a total of twelve heats for both the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Porsche Sprint Challenge. Not since 2005 has the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia been more Scandinavian than the championship will be this season. The calendar contains races in Sweden, Norway and – Denmark!
