Will Aspin joins Eden Race Drive in push for Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am title

Will Aspin will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB grid once again this season, as he joins Eden Race Drive in his efforts to secure the Pro-Am championship title.

The 19-year-old, from Florence in Italy, made his debut in the series in 2022 and took his maiden class victory in just his third race, ending the campaign with six further visits to the podium. Last year he added another win and four more podiums, as well as being awarded a Tag Heuer watch for recording more fastest laps than any other Pro-Am competitor.

For 2024 Will joins Eden Race Drive, which makes the step up from Porsche club competition to the Carrera Cup GB. It was formed by professional Racing Driver and Coach Dino Zamparelli, a three-time series runner up, with close to two decades’ experience in motorsport.

This season Will sports a brand-new livery on his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, featuring the colours carried on his helmet – purple and yellow – while he competes thanks to the support of Kirk Nielsen Group, Burnley Wilson Fish, and aql.

The opening rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB take place at Donington Park in Leicestershire over the weekend of April 27/28. The single 30-minute qualifying session is set for 13:50 on Saturday, with two 24-lap races on Sunday at 12:10 and 16:30, with live coverage on ITV4.

“It was a very late decision to be on the grid this year, but I am extremely happy to be back. At the end of last season, we started getting the results we were expecting, so I want to carry that on. It has been a tough winter as I tore my ACL and had an operation. A lot was then pushed back after that injury, but once I could start training, I have been working hard and lost a lot of weight.

“It’s exciting to start with a new team and it will be a good partnership. Dino [Zamparelli] and Hasi [Peto-Dias] have done a very good job setting up Eden Race Drive and helping me in the background, which I am thankful for. It’s looking like a strong year with Harry Foster, Josh Malin, and Oli White as my teammates as they’re all quick drivers and we can learn from each other.

“I really have to thank my sponsors Kirk Nielsen Group, Burnley Wilson Fish, and aql, who have been a big part of this and am excited to get out in the car for my first day behind the wheel this year. We will be a bit on the back foot but it’s my third year and there are no excuses. We’ll go with the flow, hope that luck is on our side, push for the championship, and be able to run at the front with the Pro drivers.”
