Will Aspin ready to continue good pace and performance in Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Talented young racer Will Aspin heads to Donington Park this weekend (August 26/27) aiming to continue showing the pace and performance he demonstrated at Knockhill last time out in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

The British/Italian teenager worked his way forward at the Scottish venue, running comfortably in second place in the Pro-Am class, before he was caught up in an incident between two cars ahead of him, having nowhere to go and tumbling down the order after contact.

However, maintaining a positive outlook, Will – who lives in Florence – left content that he and Team Parker Racing were in a strong place to fight for wins in the final three weekends of the season.

The trip to Donington Park will be the first time the Porsche Carrera Cup GB has raced on the longer 2.4-mile Grand Prix layout, though the grid sampled it at an official test day earlier this month.

Will has two practice sessions to fine tune his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car on Thursday, 24th, before qualifying on Saturday. There are two 19-lap races scheduled to take place on Sunday, at 09:40 and 13:50, with race two also shown live on ITV4 in the UK.

“I am optimistic coming into Donington Park as, despite the results not showing it at Knockhill, we had really good pace and we left happy knowing that our performance was strong. Had things gone our way we should have had a podium, so we’ll be trying to put that right this time out.

“There are six races left across three weekends in the season, so we’re not looking at the championship anymore and we’ll be working hard to get the best results we can each time we go out on track. We had a decent test on the Donington Grand Prix circuit a few weeks ago, so I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel and seeing what we can do.”
