Ayhancan Güven celebrates fourth victory, title decision will be made in the final
With his fourth win of the season, Ayhancan Güven (Turkey / Phoenix Racing) is keeping the title fight in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany open. The Porsche Junior prevailed on Sunday in the 14th round of the season at the Sachsenring against Christopher Zöchling (Austria / Fach Auto Tech) and Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands / Team GP Elite). Before the season finale in Hockenheim (October 22nd to 24th), Saturday winner ten Voorde is 24 points ahead of Güven. There is still a maximum of 50 counters to be fetched. “It was clear to me that I had to win in order to significantly improve my chances in the title race. I used that. I have to repeat this result in the final, ”said Güven. A decision was already made in the team standings: two races before the end of the season, the GP Elite team secured overall victory here.
In the ADAC GT Masters race, 26 drivers competed against each other in their 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The fans in the stands got off to an entertaining start: from third position, Zöchling passed ten Voorde and pole-setter Güven. Due to a safety car phase in the second and third laps, the field initially remained close together. At the restart, Güven was wide awake and overtook Zöchling. The 23-year-old then controlled the race at the front, increased his lead to 1.8 seconds and won after 22 laps in front of Zöchling. “At the start I chose the outside lane in the first corner. That paid off. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring the lead home. Nevertheless, second place is a great result, ”said Zöchling in summary.
Köhler crossed the finish line in third place. However, the 22-year-old was subsequently given a 30-second time penalty for causing a collision. Thus ten Voorde was rated third. His team GP Elite won the team championship early. “It is our second season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. It has run almost perfectly so far, ”said team boss Torsten van Haasteren happily. The places behind ten Voorde went to Rudy van Buren (Netherlands / CarTech Motorsport by Nigrin), Jukka Honkavuori (Finland / MRS GT-Racing) and Sandro Kaibach (Germany / Fach Auto Tech). Lukas Ertl (Germany / Van Berghe Huber Racing) crossed the finish line in seventh place. As the best rookie, Bastian Buus (Denmark / Allied-Racing) finished eighth overall.
In the ProAm classification, Kim Hauschild (HRT Motorsport) celebrated a double victory. After his success on Saturday, the German also won the Sunday run. Hauschild prevailed against Georgi Donchev (Bulgaria / Nebulus Racing by Huber) and Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany / Phoenix Racing) on the 3.645 kilometer route in Saxony.
“A title decision has already been made, congratulations to the Team GP Elite for winning the team classification. In the overall, rookie and ProAm ratings, however, everything is still open. These are the best prerequisites for an exciting finale in Hockenheim and speak for the high level of performance in our series, ”said Hurui Issak, project manager of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.
The eighth race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany will take place from October 22nd to 24th at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. Ten Voorde (281 points) and Güven (257) will travel to the season finale of the ADAC GT Masters as title contenders. In the rookie standings, Loek Hartog (Netherlands / Black Falcon Team Textar) leads with 265 points and fights with Buus (263) for victory in his class. The decision in the ProAm ranking is made between Carlos Rivas from Luxembourg (Black Falcon Team Textar / 300 points) and Hauschild (265).
