The fifth round of the Nürburgring endurance series was a great success for W&S Motorsport. At the 6 Hours ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race, the driver trio Daniel Blickle, Tim Scheerbarth and David Jahn won the Class Cup 2 of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 992 #120 and finished the marathon in ninth place overall. In the Cup 3 a fourth and tenth place succeeded and in the class V5 the team from Swabia celebrated the second place.

Already in the morning qualifying it became clear how close it is in the Cup 2 class this season. Just 0.008 seconds behind pole position, the AVIA racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup #120 qualified for second place on the grid in the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring one-make cup with 13 participants. During the turbulent start phase, Scheerbarth managed to take the lead. Despite numerous accidents in the first hour, the team found a perfect pit stop tactic. Both Jahn and Blickle set impressive lap times and were able to extend their lead over the course of the 360 minutes. The jump to the top step of the winner's podium was the well-deserved reward for an excellent race. As the third-best Porsche, the trio finished the marathon in ninth place overall.

In the AVIA racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS #960, regular drivers Marius Rauer, Daniel Bohr and Sebastian Vittel shared the work on the steering wheel. After unfortunate traffic in qualifying, it went from the midfield into the race. Early on after the start from eighth place, Rauer was able to make up positions from the midfield and was at times in the top 3 of the Cup 3 with 17 Cayman strong. Without mistakes and incidents, Bohr and Vittel also crossed the distance, crossed the finish line in fourth place and the drivers collected further important points in the championship.

After the Vöhringen Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 had a serious accident at the fourth race, Jürgen Vöhringer and René Höber climbed into the replacement car of W&S Motorsport. The gentlemen duo quickly got used to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS #962. Both drivers withstood the challenge over the six hours and finished the race in tenth place in cup 3.

Niclas Wiedmann, Kevin Rembert and Dirk Biermann wanted to build on the podium success at the last race. They already showed this ambition in qualifying and were on pole position in class V5 for production cars with 2500 to 3000 cc displacement until shortly before the end. In the end, it should go from the second position on the Hatz. Perfect teamwork and flawless performance of the driver trio were rewarded with second place at the finish line.

After the two-month summer break, a new season highlight in the NLS will be on the calendar for the first time from 9 to 11 September 2022. The Nürburgring 12 Hours will be held over six hours each on Saturday and Sunday.

Quotes after the race:

Daniel Schellhaas, Team Principal W&S Motorsport: "The six hours are over, four cars at the start and all four cars at the finish line. A sensational victory in Cup 2, a second place in the V5 and just past the podium in Cup 3 are a strong result and the reward for the entire team, which did an excellent job. We were able to score important points in Cup 2 and Cup 3, as there are 1.5 times the number of the 6h race and a retirement would have been even more painful. The GT3 Cup drivers had a great pace and we were able to win by a clear margin. This is very good for the team, after the podium was missed several times very narrowly in the other racing series and the racing luck was not quite on our side this season! I particularly appreciate the performance of Jürgen and René, who crossed the distance in pairs in a new car for them. We can really be proud of the team and say thank you to everyone!"

Tim Scheerbarth, driver #120: "What more can I say than: It was just awesome, really great work from everyone! To start from second place with eight thousandths of a second in qualifying shows how close it is in the cup. Immediately after the start it was equally tight and violent on the track. Sometimes you could put the famous towel over the first four to seven Porsches, so close together we were, it was a very intense stint. Daniel and David built on this impressively and fought to the end. We are all the more pleased about the first class victory of the season, in which we can take one and a half times the number of points. This moves us up the table neatly. In eight weeks, it will even go twice over six hours, I'm looking forward to it!"

Daniel Bohr, driver #960: "Our focus was on getting over the distance and taking as many points as possible. Everyone succeeded and we even won the Pro-Am classification. The race went well for us, W&S Motorsport did an excellent job, I think we can be very happy."

René Höber, Driver #962: "To drive such a long and hard race as a couple was very exhausting. Jürgen held his own, my respect. I had a slight contact due to an oil trail, but luckily nothing happened and we otherwise got through well despite the many accidents. We both manage quite fast lap times and we are ultimately satisfied with tenth place."

Niclas Wiedmann, driver #460: "In qualifying, we were already in first place on the grid when the opponents were able to improve again at the last minute. A touch in the starting phase threw me back to third place, but was able to regain second place in the same lap. We were then able to hold this second place relatively safely until the finish line. The team did its important part and everything worked perfectly as usual. Maybe next time we will finally get a deserved victory."
