Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Redline set for final races of 2022 campaign

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Redline is set for the final races in the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, which take place on the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent, this weekend (October 8/9).

In the mix for the championship title throughout the season, unfortunately for Adam Smalley – the current Porsche GB Junior Driver – contact at Silverstone last time out left him fighting to recover for just a four-point race two score while series leader Kiern Jewiss extended his advantage as he avoided any drama.

That means Adam needs a perfect weekend and bad luck for his rivals, which is not out of the question, but leaves him with an uphill battle to claim the title. However, the Lancastrian comes into the weekend in a positive frame of mind, aiming to relax and enjoy himself, though he has been busy driving a rally car as part of Motorsport UK's Academy and taking part in kart races supporting The Insurance Charities.

On the other side of the garage, it was also a tough end to Silverstone for Oliver White as he sustained damage to his steering through contact and suffered a severe flat spot which meant he was down to the canvas of his tyre, forcing his retirement from the contest. He will also be aiming to end the season on a high note and crack the top-ten in the standings on his maiden season in sportscars.

Adam and Oliver will have two free practice sessions on Friday, October 7th, to familiarise themselves with the 2.6-mile circuit, before qualifying a day later. The final two races of the season will take place on Sunday, October 9th, at 10:35 and 15:45 – the latter of which will be shown live on ITV4.

Adam Smalley, #21

“Brands Hatch is a circuit I enjoy. I've won there in Ginetta Juniors, and the last two times I've been there in GT4 Supercup, so hopefully we can make it a win in 2022 as well. The car will be quick, and it's a big change from Silverstone which is a fantastic little circuit, to Brands GP which is a really tough challenge.

“The plan is to enjoy the weekend. It's the end of the season and the championship is going to be tough, so I'll just enjoy it, give it my best shot, and finish the season, hopefully, on a high. Since Silverstone I've been in a rally car as Motorsport UK has kindly offered that to the Academy drivers, so that's swapping tarmac for gravel, which should be good fun. I've also done a six-hour endurance karting race at PFI in Lincolnshire for one of my sponsors, supporting The Insurance Charities, where we won the hour-long sprint race which was good fun. I've come back black and blue and hope that I'll be able to move before Brands!”

Oliver White, #2

“I'm looking forward to Brands Hatch, it's probably the circuit I've been looking forward to the most all year as it's a track I really enjoy, though I haven't driven the GP loop for about six or seven years. We get a couple of practice sessions on the Friday which should be good and hopefully the weather will be fairly stable, so it'll help me through the weekend. My aim is to have a better qualifying session to start higher up, have two clean races, and record some good results.

“The track should suit the 992 quite well. There's lots of high-speed corners, the kerbs aren't too bad, it's very flowing, so it should suit the car nicely. Overtaking isn't going to be very easy, and I think there's an opportunity as Surtees as you go on to the GP loop which is probably going to be the best overtaking spot.”
