France on the ideal racing line: CLRT
In his fourth year in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, team manager Côme Ledogar is fielding a completely new driver line-up. And he has set clear goals for the 2023 season: podium finishes and the championship title. That’s quite a statement!
The first Supercup season in 2020 was a leap in the dark for CLRT. Virtually overnight, the newly formed French team with a Belgian licence had won its ticket to the international pinnacle of the Porsche one-make series. That meant, of course, that team principal Côme Ledogar had a lot of work to do. There was no time for sleep. Now in 2023 , with his team settled, he can take a more relaxed approach to the upcoming season. With #11 Dorian Boccolacci (FRA), Rookie #12 Benjamin Paque (BEL) and #13 Michael Verhagen (NLD) he has a strong trio in the cockpits of his black Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. At the series' Official Season Test, he spoke to us about his plans for these drivers and the upcoming season.
A few questions for the team manager.
Salut Côme!
It's the 4th Supercup season for CLRT. What have you learnt from the last three years?
The learning curve has been quite high. I think in this job you learn more every year. But the main thing is to try to keep the balance in the team in terms of performance during the whole season: We need to stay focused and not lose our mind. I think we all did our homework and are more than ready for the new season.
You now have a completely new team of permanent drivers – what is your game plan for this season?
The plan behind this year's driver line-up is to have a complete package of skills and abilities to ensure we finally win the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and take home the trophy.
How is the team preparing for the races at the iconic circuits of the Supercup calendar? Are there any specific races that you are particularly looking forward to?
Every circuit has a different layout. So we have to work differently and adjust the setup throughout the year. We do a lot of simulation and a lot of preparation in the garage to get ready for each circuit, race by race. We look forward to every race of the season, but Monaco is very special. It is the closest race to our workshop and a lot of our sponsors will be there.
Looking back on your career as a Team Manager over the past years, what is the biggest difference from the first Supercup season?
Let's say that the biggest differences between me now and me back in 2020 is that now we’re more settled as a team. We have really good drivers this season and everything is running smoothly, so everyone can focus on what they do best. The last few seasons I've been focused on everything at once and now I can do things the way I want to and focus on what I'm best at.
What is the most important thing to succeed in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup?
The key to success in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is that every single aspect is important, from the driver to the car to every person in the team. The logistics in the garage and everything else has to run smoothly so that we can perform and don't waste time on anything other than our performance on the track.
