Rising star Harry King maintained his dominant form in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux with a fifth victory of the campaign as the series headed to Zandvoort for round three. As had been the case in the opening two meetings of the year, Harry was the man to beat from the moment cars hit the track, setting the fastest time in both free practice sessions at the wheel of his Parker Revs Motorsport-run car.

A stunning performance in qualifying then saw the BRDC Superstar driver grab pole position by more than a second, with his time being almost two seconds quicker than he had managed in qualifying for the Porsche Supercup meeting at the same circuit last year.

Maintaining his lead ahead of Ghislain Cordeel when the lights went out to start race one, Harry wasted little time in establishing a handy lead out front as battles raged behind and looked set for another dominant win before the safety car was deployed shortly before the half-way stage.

After a ten minute period behind the safety car, the action resumed with little over four minutes left on the clock and Harry saw off the challenge of Cordeel on the run to turn one before once again starting to edge away from his rival.

Another incident further down the field saw the safety car called out again with just over a minute remaining, with the race ultimately ending under caution as Harry made it five wins from five.

He would also post the fastest lap of the race, once again noticeably quicker than he had gone at the Dutch venue last season.

From pole again in race two, Harry rocketed off the line to retain the lead before the safety car was called out to recover a car from the gravel at turn one.

After the restart, Harry scampered away from the field behind to build a huge lead at the front only for his hard work to be undone when the safety car was called out a second time with little over five minutes of the race left to run.

The action would resume with just over a minute to run and Harry held his place at the front to take the chequered flag out front, but he was then hit with a five second penalty after being deemed to have overtaken the safety car a fraction too soon on the restart.

That meant Harry - who was again holder of the fastest lap - was classified in a hugely unrepresentative fifth place in the result, although he retains a healthy advantage in the points standings.

"It was another perfect weekend in terms of the pace we had in the car, as we were on it from the moment we hit the track in testing and then grabbed pole with the quickest lap I’ve ever done around Zandvoort," he said.

"The race pace was also extremely strong and both races would have been plain sailing had it not been for the safety cars, which it seems we were unable to avoid this weekend. Race two was particularly frustrating because we were so comfortable at the front and then on the final restart I’d left a huge gap to the safety car and all of a sudden I came out of the final corner and he was just cruising along.

"When I have to miss an event through my Porsche Supercup commitments, I’m chasing every point I can, so it’s a shame we lost some there. However, with the pace we displayed, I’m still confident about our chances going forwards."

Harry now turns his focus towards his home round of the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup this weekend at Silverstone with BWT Lechner Racing, where he will hope to impress in front of a partisan crowd.

"We had a strong test at Silverstone a few weeks back and expectations are high going into the weekend," he said.

"It was a massive shame that I didn’t get to race at the British Grand Prix last year when the Porsche race was cancelled so it will be a massive honour to compete this time around - particularly as a proud member of the BRDC Superstars programme.

"I’ll be pushing hard to bring home a strong result."
