Harry King maintains perfect start with Zolder double
Rising star Harry King maintained his perfect start to the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season with a double victory from the second meeting of the campaign at Zolder.
The Parker Revs Motorsport driver had started his programme in the Benelux series - running alongside his Porsche Supercup entry with BWT Lechner Racing - with two wins from two at Spa, which left him as the man to beat heading to another famous Belgian circuit.
From the outset, Harry was once again the man to beat as he topped the times in both free practice sessions, and he then set the fastest lap of the weekend in qualifying to beat Ghislain Cordeel to pole by more than two-tenths of a second.
Able to retain the lead at the start of the opening race, Harry controlled proceedings from the front as he edged away from the battling pack behind to make it three wins from three, setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.
With his second best time in qualifying meaning he would start race two from pole position once again, Harry was in the ideal place to do the weekend double and he kept his lead at the start before a caution period to clear an incident behind.
Once the action got underway in earnest, Harry again showed his pace as he stormed clear at the front, setting a fastest lap over half a second quicker than anyone else as he beat experienced racer Xavier Maassen to victory by more than eleven seconds.
It allows the former Porsche GB Junior driver and current BRDC Superstar to extend his points lead ahead of round three at Zandvoort in a few weeks time.
"From a points perspective, it couldn’t have been better this weekend," he said. "We have gone out there and scored every single point that was available, and I couldn’t be happier for the championship as it allows us to extend our lead in the points.
"On a personal level, the big goal this weekend was to lap consistently across the race runs with the changes we had made to the car, and it was a case of mission accomplished in that respect.
"I’m looking forward to going to Zandvoort in a few weeks time for round three and a circuit where I raced last season, and then it will be full focus on the Supercup meeting at Silverstone and my chance to impress on home soil."
