Huber Racing collects important points in Assen

The fourth race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux took place in Assen - the drivers of Huber Racing were able to collect important points in both races.

After a seven-week summer break, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux continued at the legendary TT Circuit in Assen. Jack's Racing Day saw the fourth event of the season for the one-make cup. Huber Racing from Hofkirchen in Bavaria brought three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars to the start on the world-famous MotoGP circuit. Local hero Flynt Schuring, who celebrated his 17th birthday on Saturday, Ariel Levi, who most recently celebrated his first victory in the Carrera Cup Benelux at Zandvoort, and Austrian Horst Felix Felbermayr drove the cars of Christoph Huber's team.

The first race round on Saturday afternoon offered exciting one-make cup racing. Ariel Levi fought for a podium place until the last corner. In the end, he finished fourth, missing out on a podium place by just 0.080 seconds. The numerous spectators at Jack's Racing Day were thrilled by the action on offer. However, as a guest starter won the race, Levi received the points for third position. Youngster Flynt Schuring was also involved in many exciting battles on his birthday - in the end he finished the race in seventh position.

On Sunday, the 26 participants of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux offered thrilling racing as well. After the race was fragmented by a lengthy race interruption in the early stages and another safety car phase, the second half of the race offered a real thriller. Schuring and Levi were involved in a thrilling six-way battle for third place and also launched Huber-internal attacks. At the end of the race, Dutchman Schuring was the best-placed driver of the Huber team in fifth place. Ariel Levi followed directly on his tailpipes - the Israeli was 0.130 seconds behind his team mate.

Horst Felix Felbermayr, who is the third generation racer from the family, showed a strong recovery in Saturday's race. After spinning the Austrian dropped to the back of the field and fought his way back to 15th position in the remaining laps. A performance the youngster was justifiably proud of at the end of the race. In the second race, he retired early after a starting accident.

Franziska Lambacher, team manager of Huber Racing's Carrera Cup Benelux line-up, was delighted after the race weekend: "From Huber Racing's point of view, it was a successful weekend. Ariel and Flynt scored a lot of points for us. In addition, both drivers showed spectacular battles in the two races and were able to thrill the fans! Felix showed a strong recovery in our third car on Saturday. After spinning, he managed to work his way up to 15th position in this quality field - a strong performance that we as a team are very proud of! Unfortunately, he retired early on Sunday."

The Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux will continue in a month's time - in Zolder, Belgium, the one-make cup will be held as part of the European Truck Championship. Huber Racing's next race will be next weekend when the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland will be held at the DEKRA Lausitzring in Brandenburg.
