KCMG return to Nurburgring 24 Hours and selected NLS rounds in 2022
KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is set to return to the demanding Nordschleife for the opening three rounds of the 2022 Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS), ahead of the gruelling ADAC TotalEnergies Nürburgring 24 Hours.
The Hong-Kong based squad will begin its campaign with the NLS pre-season test on 17-18 March. After the first three races, KCMG will take on the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers on 6-8 May. The event has a new format for 2022, with two three-hour races on the daring 25.378-kilometre course, which will help to decide their starting position for the main race.
Following their strong performances at the 2022 Rolex 24 at Daytona, where they helped KCMG to a debut podium finish, Dennis Olsen and Alexandre Imperatori return to the squad for the test and NLS 1. The pair will be joined by Australian driver Josh Burdon, who has raced for KCMG at the Nürburgring since 2019, when the team first took on the ‘Green Hell’. The full line up for the 24-hour race is set to be released in due course.
The first round of the series will take place on 25-26 March, with the 2022 edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours marking the 50th running of the event and is scheduled for 26-29 May.
DENNIS OLSEN
“I’m excited to be returning to the Nürburgring and NLS with KCMG. We proved together at Daytona that we are capable of fighting at the front, and we feel confident that we can take on our competition at the Nordschleife this season. A big thank you to Paul and all the team for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to going back racing on this amazing circuit.”
ALEXANDRE IMPERATORI
“The winter break is finally over, and I’m delighted to be joining KCMG once again at the Nürburgring. The Nordschleife is one of my favourite circuits, and it’s a real challenge to race here. The team has been preparing well for the new season, and we can count on the experience of previous years as we aim for success at this historic venue. We’re coming off a strong Daytona 24 Hour debut but the Nürburgring is a different test altogether and we will have to be fully focused from the start of the season.”
JOSH BURDON
“I’m really happy to be taking on the Nürburgring with KCMG alongside Alex and Dennis for the test and NLS 1. As a team, we made significant progress throughout last season. I’m very motivated and excited, and we will be looking to continue our momentum and battle at the front this year.”
MATT HOWSON TEAM MANAGER
“After the strong start to KCMG’s season at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, we’re extremely excited to return to the Nordschleife to take on the ultimate challenge of the NLS and the Nürburgring 24 Hours. The team is now in its third season with Porsche, and we have all the right ingredients and experience to compete for victory at this unique race. The NLS events will give the team and drivers all the right preparation to fulfil their potential, and KCMG will be working towards being one of the main contenders for the top step at the end of May.”
PAUL IP KCMG FOUNDER
“It’s great to see the team return to the iconic Nürburgring, and to compete there for a third season in partnership with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific. KCMG had a brilliant debut at Daytona earlier this year, and I’m delighted to welcome back Dennis and Alexandre, who were vital to our success there. We have experienced and competitive drivers in our car, which is what you need to take on such a challenging circuit like the Nordschleife. The team is very motivated to return and take on the NLS and the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and we are very much looking forward to getting back on track again.”
