Larry ten Voorde wins at Hockenheim for the sixth time

Larry ten Voorde remains the "King of Hockenheim": In the third race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland 2023, the Dutchman from the GP Elite team celebrated his sixth victory overall on the Baden race track. Second place went to his teammate Loek Hartog. Briton Harry King from the Allied Racing team finished third and climbed onto the podium in the one-make cup with the 375 kW (510 hp) Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

Larry ten Voorde managed the decisive maneuver just a few meters after the start. In the sprint to the first corner, the two-time champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany outperformed his teammate Loek Hartog, who had started the race from pole position. On the remaining 17 laps, ten Voorde defended the lead in a superior manner. “I still had the last race of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Monaco in the back of my mind, where I lost the duel after the start from pole position and only finished second. This time I concentrated 100 percent on the start – and it went really perfectly,” said the 26-year-old from near Enschede, who took over the lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland standings with his first win of the season.

For his part, Loek Hartog kept Harry King at bay throughout the entire race, which was interrupted by two safety car phases. “Of course I'm not entirely satisfied because I would have liked to convert pole position into a win. But at least I got a lot of points, that's very important for the championship. Of course, the one-two for our GP Elite team is also great,” Hartog saw as positive aspects of the result.

Harry King started from position four, but immediately overtook the German Leon Köhler (Huber Racing), who was even faster in qualifying. “I had a few problems in qualifying. But in the race it went perfectly for me. Now I'm looking forward to the second race on Sunday – then I'll start from the front row,” commented King. Behind the Brit, Dutchman Morris Schuring (Fach Auto Tech) finished fourth and Franke Leon Köhler (Huber Racing) finished fifth.

Theo Oeverhaus from the Car Tech Motorsport Bonk team secured victory in the rookie classification for the first time. The 22-year-old from Osnabrück finished seventh in the overall standings, making him the best-placed driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany talent pool. Hamburg-based Vincent Andronaco (Allied Racing) and Belgian Ghislain Cordeel (GP Elite) also climbed onto the rookie podium. Sören Spreng also gave GP Elite victory in the ProAm classification. The man from Sauerland won ahead of Michael Essmann (Car Tech Motorsport Bonk) and Bulgarian Georgi Donchev (ProfilDoors by Huber Racing).

Porsche Junior Bastian Buus was unlucky. The 19-year-old from Denmark, who drives for the Allied Racing team, was involved in a collision on the first lap, slipped into the gravel trap and had to retire.

Big Porsche party at the "Festival of Dreams"
The second round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is part of the "Festival of Dreams", the celebration of 75 years of Porsche sports cars. The program also includes the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, the ADAC GT Masters and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Classic. The premiere of the racing series for classic Cup 911s of the 964 and 993 generations was very well received by drivers and fans. The supporting program away from the slopes includes a big meeting of the Porsche community and a live concert by Alvaro Soler.
