Marcus Ericsson v/s Felix Rosenqvist in the Porsche Carrera Cup final at Mantorp Park
International racing star Felix Rosenqvist is back as a guest driver in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. During the final race weekend of the season, the Indycar driver challenges the top tier of the Swedish GT Car Championships – and Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericsson.
Indycar driver Felix Rosenqvist will start as a guest driver during the final race weekend of the year in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. The event will take place at Mantorp Park on October 1. As previously communicated, Rosenqvist's Indycar colleague Marcus Ericsson will also start the same weekend. In addition to tight championship racing, the Swedish Championship final for GT cars thus also offers a unique opportunity to see two of Sweden's internationally most successful racing drivers ever in a real champion meeting.
"I'm really looking forward to competing at home in Sweden again. The starting field in the Porsche Carrera Cup is stronger than ever and it will be fun to meet Marcus in a completely different context than on the Indycar tracks, says Felix Rosenqvist.
Racing star Felix Rosenqvist has previously offered no less than three guest appearances in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. He made his first two appearances in the 2017 season at Ring Knutstorp and at his home track Scandinavian Raceway, winning three of the total four races he competed in. During the championship final of the Carrera Cup 2021, Rosenqvist gilded the starting field with a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup in a magnificent specially designed livery signed by former F1 driver Stefan "Lill-Lövis" Johansson.
Felix Rosenqvist is one of Sweden's most successful racing drivers of all time and is, among other things, European champion in Formula 3 and has double victories in the Masters of F3 and in the mythical Macau Grand Prix. Värnamo-son has also competed successfully in both GT cars and DTM and is a three-time race winner in Formula E.
Since 2019, Felix Rosenqvist has competed in the American formula car series Indycar, known for fierce competition between drivers in the absolute world elite. In his debut season, he was crowned Rookie Of The Year and already the year after his first victory in the championship. Rosenqvist finished his second season with Arrow McLaren SP just over a week ago when he drove fourth across the finish line at the final at Laguna Seca, California. The strong finish put the Son of Värnamo in eighth place in the championship standings, ahead of famous names such as Colton Herta, Alexander Rossi and Romain Grosjean.
"We are incredibly proud to welcome Felix Rosenqvist back to Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia," says Raine Wermelin, Director, Porsche Sweden.
" Felix has with his guest appearances become a popular feature of the Porsche Carrera Cup. Having him on the starting line at Mantorp, together with Marcus Ericsson, means that the championship final is spiced up with a duel between two of our internationally most successful racing drivers ever. It will be something really special!
Felix Rosenqvist, together with Marcus Ericsson, is part of the Porsche Experience Racing team and will start in a guest car from Porsche Sweden. Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia is a single-type championship where all drivers drive the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
