Multiple Porsche entries set for GTSSC and China Endurance Championship at Ningbo
Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific will be represented by several drivers and teams at this weekend’s GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) meeting at the Ningbo International Circuit. GTSSC got its second season underway last month at the same venue, with the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport taking victories in its first two races on Chinese soil.
The series is targeted at bronze drivers, travelling to three of China’s most well-known motorsport venues in Ningbo, Zhuhai and Shanghai, with two 27-minute races per event.
Li Lichao, who secured two top-five overall finishes in Round 1, returns with Climax Racing in the #2 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Eric Zang and TORO Racing make their first appearances of the campaign in the #7 car, while Xiao Min continues his season with YC Racing in the #51 machine.
Porsche will also have three entries in the GT4 class. Climax Racing’s Wang Xiang and Zeng Jianfeng of RSR GT Racing will race a pair of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport cars, while Jianfeng’s teammate Du Yu returns in the #969 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.
Free Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday 5 August, with the two races to be completed on Saturday 6 August.
China Endurance Championship will get its 2022 campaign underway this weekend, also at the Ningbo International Circuit. Three Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport cars will enter, two from RSR GT Racing and one from Blackjack Racing.
Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “GTSSC got its second season off to a fantastic start last month, so we’re excited for Round 2 this weekend. The entry list looks great, with plenty of Porsche representation. We had a successful opening event, with the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport taking two wins on its Chinese racing debut. We’ve also got the opening round of China Endurance Championship this weekend, with three Porsche entries in the GT4 class, which is great to see. Best of luck to the drivers and teams competing in each championship this weekend!”
