Pedro Aguiar takes the lead at the end and is the first to win at Interlagos

Legend has it that iconic tracks like Le Mans and Indianapolis choose their winners. The same can be said for Interlagos with the victories of Pedro Aguiar and Caio Castro in the opening races of stage 3 of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard.

After passing the race all in second place behind a dominant Christian Hahn, Aguiar took the lead thanks to the loss of performance of the competitor around the curve of the Café. The Porsche #20 driver led just a few metres, but it was enough to write his name as the fifth different Winner of the Carrera Cup in five races of 2022.

Caio Castro had an equally exciting journey. Dominant in quali, nailing the pole in Q2 with a significant margin of 0.814s over the runner-up, he ended up punished with the loss of his best lap after protest from another rider and removed to tenth place on the grid. Cerebral, the driver of car #22 had aggressiveness to climb the platoon when necessary, knew how to position himself to avoid the various tangles in the top5 and won with authority. It was his second win with the most produced race cars on the planet (both at Interlagos) and his first win of the season.

2022 incidentally records a record of alternation among the protagonists of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank Mastercard. Considering the time takes and the Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge races, six qualifying sessions and ten races were held for six pole positions and ten different winners.

After Saturday's races, Marçal Muller retains the lead in the Carrera Cup championship, as does Raijan Mascarello in the Sprint Challenge.
