The Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia (PCCS) has one of the country's largest starting fields when it comes to racing. The series has been running as an RM series since 2006. Since 2006, PCCS has worked hard to elevate the class and develop it in line with international Porsche Carrera Cup regulations. They have also invested a lot in building a good media platform and managed to attract big stars as drivers. One of them is the three-time world champion in rallycross, Johan Kristofferssons who in his incomparable season 2015 took home the series victory after winning all races. In recent years, it is Lukas Sundahl who has ruled in the class that now gets SM status next year.

It is very positive that the federal board has decided to revive the dormant SM sign in the racing class GT from next year and award this Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. This means that we now have SM status in all three main categories - GT, Formula (JSM) and Touring Car. Porsche Carrera Cup has for 15 years been driven purposefully and more than satisfies Racing Committee's criteria for SM status, says Claes Elofsson, chairman of the Swedish Bilsports Racing Committee and continues:
The Board has also given us the task that generally do a review of the GT -racing in Swedish motorsport.

Anna Nordkvist, CEO of Svensk Bilsport, is also pleased with the decision.

That we have a Swedish Championship series with a car brand like Porsche that not only internationally but also here in Sweden sees the value in using motorsport as a cornerstone in the construction of profiling, image, customer experience, brand, and not least Swedish motorsport, I see as very positive. We already have our joint work with the Prince Carl Philips Racing Cup and also the Swedish Championship in virtual racing and now the collaboration is further strengthened. Since I took up my position in Swedish Motorsport, I have seen how Porsche has worked to develop the series and make it grow. It will be really exciting to see what happens in the coming years, says Nordkvist.
