The inaugural GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) season is set to continue this weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit, with six Porsche entries across all three classes. The series, which began at the same venue in May, gives bronze drivers the opportunity to test themselves in two 27-minute races at China’s greatest venues, such as Shanghai, Zhuzhou and Zhuhai.

Following his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia presented by AximTrade commitments last weekend, Li Chao is set to make his GTSSC debut. He will be driving for Absolute Racing in the #910 Porsche 911 GT3 R that he and three-time Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion Chris van der Drift raced to a trio of GT World Challenge Asia Pro-Am podiums in 2019 and multiple victories in China GT. Fellow Pro-Am Carrera Cup Asia racer Bian Ye will also make his first appearance in GTSSC with the Shanghai-based outfit, driving the #3 car.

Onboard the third of four Porsche in the GT3 class is JZ Sun in the sister #13 Absolute Racing car. They will be joined by YC Racing’s Xiao Min, who will compete in the previous generation 991.1 #51 machine, meaning both the current and previous generation Porsche 911 GT3 R will be on track together.

Ray Lou will make his first appearance with Porsche in GTSSC with TRT Racing in the GTC class, alongside the returning Yang Ke of 69 Racing Team, both driving Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991.2) cars.

David Szu will make his maiden open championship appearance in GTSSC following three years in Porsche Sports Cup China, having made his racing debut in the series in 2019. Szu continues his partnership with Absolute Racing, which is running his BD Group entry in the #2 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Bian Ye, #3 Porsche 911 GT3 R: “I’m looking forward to racing in Shanghai once again. My plan is to focus getting comfortable in the car, slowly building my performance while keeping strong consistency. Hopefully I will have a good time on track and record solid results.”

JZ Sun, #13 Porsche 911 GT3 R: “I haven’t raced for two years so I’m looking forward to the weekend and doing my best in both races. It will be difficult to get used to competing at high speed again, but that makes it all the more exciting.”

Li Chao, #910 Porsche 911 GT3 R: “I recently tested with Absolute Racing and we showed good pace. The team believes that I’m ready to take on the challenge of competing in the GTSCC races against a pretty competitive field, so my sights are set on two podium finishes.”

David Szu, #2 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport: “Nothing is more exciting than being on track with people who share the same emotion and passion for racing.
