Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific heads to Sepang for busy weekend of racing

Both Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand and Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will take on Sepang International Circuit this weekend, racing on the same bill for the first time since 2019.

The two series are midway through their respective campaigns, with the events at the Malaysian track set to be crucial in the championship fights.

In Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand, Alpha Factory Racing by Pulzar duo Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia will be looking to continue their excellent form in 2023, which has already seen them take three GTM class victories in the #33 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991).

Also in the GTM category, brothers and reigning champions Tanart and Munkong Sathienthirakul target for a return to the top step of the podium for Mongkol Motorsports, while AAS Motorsport’s Nattachak Hanjitkasem and Kantadhee Kusiri aim to go one better after their second-placed finish in Bangsaen last time out. Rounding out the GTM quartet is the pairing of Simon Chan and Shaung Thong, competing in the Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).

For the first time this season, Porsche’s entries also feature representatives in the GT3 class. Indonesian racer Anderson Tanoto teams up alongside Edoardo Mortara for B-Quik Absolute Racing, with Adrian Henry D’Silva and Marco Giltrap competing for Earl Bamber Motorsport, with both entries racing in the previous generation Porsche 911 GT3 R (991.2).

Meanwhile, in the GT4 category, Iaro Razanakoto and Chanon Asavasangsidhi look to build on their win in Bangsaen last month in the B-Quik Absolute Racing Porsche Cayman RS Clubsport. Erwin de Smit and Sandy Stuvik make their season debut in the class, racing for the same team. Finally, in the GTC category, Putera Adam hopes to keep up his excellent performances in 2023, having already won at Chang International Circuit and the Bangsaen Grand Prix.
