Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific to take on Macau Grand Prix with five-car line-up

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific is set to take on the 69th running of the Macau Grand Prix, with five Porsche ready to tackle the legendary Guia Circuit this weekend.

TORO Racing will field a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Galaxy Entertainment Macau GT Cup. Swiss driver Alexandre Imperatori makes his ninth appearance at the event in the #11 car with Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific support, while Porsche Carrera Cup Asia racer Min Heng will compete in the #66 machine. The Chinese team will be looking to build on their experience from last year’s event, where Leo Ye took second place.

In the Melco Greater Bay Area GT Cup, RSR GT Racing enter two cars in the GT4 class , with Xia Yu and Jiang Ruxi in the #1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and #30 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport respectively. The final Porsche entry comes from MP Racing and Lio Chan Fai, who competes in the #89 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

One of the most challenging circuits in world motorsport, the 6.12-kilometre Guia Circuit features long straights and fast corners, along with tight and twisty sections. Drivers also have to deal with a huge variation in altitude, with over 30 metres separating the highest and lowest points of the track.

Race 1 for both categories takes place on Saturday, with the results setting the grid order for the 12-lap Race 2 on Sunday.

Alexandre Imperatori, #11 TORO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R: “I’m delighted to be going back to Macau for the GT Cup. It’s one of my favourite circuits in the world, always a massive challenge to race on and a place I love to drive. Thanks to TORO Racing and Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific for the opportunity. I can’t wait to be back on track and hopefully in the fight for victory.”

Min Heng, #66 TORO Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R: “I’m really excited for the event this weekend, this track is both exhilarating and challenging, it doesn’t tolerate mistakes. I’m looking to achieve the best result possible with Porsche and TORO Racing.”

Xia Yu, #1 RSR GT Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport: “I’m delighted to represent RSR GT Racing this weekend. The famous Guia circuit is full of challenges, but I’m very confident about the performance of the car and I’ll do my best on track.”

Jiang Ruxi, #30 RSR GT Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport: “I’m so excited to be competing at Macau for the first time in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. The circuit is going to provide a totally different challenge to what we’re used to. I’ve been working hard to prepare for the weekend and my target is to finish the race and enjoy driving as much as I can.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “Macau is always a brilliant event and this year should be no different. It’s great to have five cars representing Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific this weekend. TORO Racing were extremely competitive here last time and they’ve got two very strong drivers in Alexandre Imperatori and Min Heng so we have high hopes for them.
