Porsche racer Will Aspin to support Yorkshire Children’s Charity

Race winner Will Aspin is delighted to be supporting Yorkshire Children’s Charity throughout the rest of the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, helping to raise awareness of its excellent work in the county.

Although based in Florence, Italy, the 17-year-old and his family have close ties to Yorkshire, championing Leeds and the wider region, including with the Munroe K-operated White Rose Park, home to global names such as HSBC, Capita and DAZN, which is boosting the South Leeds area.

On top of this, the company is behind the construction of the new White Rose Railway Station. Whilst the concrete for the new station is being poured, the foundations being laid aren’t just for the station but for an improved public transport system that will be a catalyst for economic development.

That belief in the local area matches perfectly with the goals of the Yorkshire Children’s Charity, in improving the lives of children at a disadvantage from the Yorkshire Dales through to inner city Sheffield.

It is estimated that there are 350,000 children in Yorkshire that are living in poverty, with those figures coming before the cost-of-living crisis, while 90,000 children with disabilities called Yorkshire their home.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity aims to support parents, as they struggle to articulate the needs of their children. The pandemic had a massive impact on the charity sector, with lots of funding that was there suddenly disappeared overnight. Therefore, waiting lists with charities became much longer for children needing help and support.

Will is hoping to bring further awareness to the Charity and its aims throughout the season and recently provided his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car to be on display at an event in Yorkshire.

Charlotte Farrington, CEO, Yorkshire Children’s Charity

“There are charities supporting children, lots of charities, but I've worked in the sector for ten years, and I saw that there was an opportunity to do things differently. We are all about the outcomes and we really pride ourselves on that statement. Our promise to parents is that if a project or request is right for the child, and it meets our objectives as a charity, we will fund it, our priority must, and will be looking at the individual needs of children.

“We will only make Yorkshire a better place for our children and young people to live through our combined efforts. To have the support of Will behind us, raising awareness of the work we do and the children we support is amazing. It was so great to have Will's car at the 'Yorkshire Elegance' event last week which we were fortunate to be the beneficiaries of, and we are so proud to see our logo displayed on the car alongside the logos of so many of his incredible sponsors. It's really great that Will recognises the role he can play in helping other young people and we're looking forward to him meeting some of the amazing children we work with later in the year. We wish Will the best of luck for the rest of the season."

“I’m very proud to carry the logo of the Yorkshire Children’s Charity on my race car this season. My family has a big link to the area, so it’s brilliant that we can help raise awareness for the charity and the important work that it does. We had the car on display at Bowcliffe Hall this week and we’re working with Charlotte and her team to see what else we can do together later in the year.”
