In the GTM category, Simon Chan will be looking to add to his overall podium which he secured in Bangsaen, as he’s joined by former Porsche Carrera Cup Asia driver Jia Qi Li in the #10 Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.

AAS Motorsport’s Nattachak Hanjitkasem and Kmik Karnasuta have scored top-three finishes in both events so far this campaign as they head to Malaysia.

In the GT4 category, the 2W Zoomies duo of Prakhun Phornprapha and Warren Adulayavichitr currently lead the championship in their #95 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, after taking victory in the second race in Bangsaen.

Sitting just half a point behind in the standings is B-Quik Absolute Racing pair Henk Kiks and Erwin de Smit, who picked up the win in Race 1 last time out.

Finally, AAS Motorsport’s other entry of Pitsanu Sirimongkolkasem and Kantadhee Kusiri will take on the Sepang International Circuit in the #18 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

On-track action gets underway with Official Practice at 11:00 and 17:00 local time on Friday, as qualifying starts at 08:50 on Saturday. Lights out for the opening race is at 15:35, and at 12:10 on Sunday the second round of the weekend begins.

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia is also taking place at the same venue this weekend, with a record-breaking 29 entries as the series introduces their Endurance Challenge event for the first time.

There will be three races held across the two days with the second being a night race, before the first ever 43 minute + 1 lap event on the Sunday.

The returning Alessandro Ghiretti will be looking to extend his championship lead, as the battle for the top positions in the standings heats up behind the Frenchman.

Kantadhee Kusiri, AAS Motorsport: “The month since Bangsaen has given us valuable time to refine our strategies and address any issues, so my goal for the weekend is to maximise performance and consistency, taking advantage of the work we’ve done during the break. It will be crucial to focus on both qualifying performance and race strategy to ensure a strong result to set us up for the remainder of the season.”

Kmik Karnasuta, AAS Motorsport: “It was nice to have a break after the weekend at Bangsaen. We’ve been able to review our performance and prepare strongly for Sepang. We’ll look to achieve the best results possible and to close the gap to the leaders in the standings.”

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “I’m looking forward to another great weekend for Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand. This event marks the halfway point of the season and so far, it’s been a successful one for our teams and drivers to date. However, we know how competitive this series is and hopefully we’ll be able to celebrate further success in Sepang. It promises to be a great event full of action and excellent racing! Meanwhile, it’s a landmark weekend for PCCA with the series welcoming the new Endurance Challenge. It’s set to be a thrilling weekend, with a record number of 29 entries showing just how strong the series has become.”
