Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand makes winning start to 2023Thailand Super Series

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’s teams and drivers made a strong start to the 2023 Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand campaign at Chang International Circuit, with success in the GTM, GT4 and GTC classes.

Reigning champions Munkong Motorsports clinched pole position for the first race of the GTM season, but it was Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia who took victory for Alpha Factory Racing Team by Pulzar. AAS Motorsport’s Kantadhee Kusiri and Nattachak Hanjitkasem completed a Porsche 1-2 in AAS Motorsport’s #17 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) after a final lap overtake.

Davee and Chanchalia then backed up their victory the following day with second place at the wheel of the #33 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991.1) in Race 2.

In the GT4 class, Iaro Razanakoto and Chanon Asavasangsidhi picked up a solid pair of second placed finishes in the #88 B-Quik Racing Team Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Meanwhile, in the GTC category, Putera Adam claimed victory in Race 1 for AAS Motorsport, before narrowly missing out on the podium in Race 2, crossing the line fourth in the #5 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Thailand Super Series returns to the Chang International Circuit for Round 2 on 25-28 May.

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’s activities continue this week with Selected Driver Yifei Ye taking on the ABB FIA Formula E Rookie Test in Berlin in a Porsche 99X Electric.

Finally, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will make its much-anticipated return to racing this weekend at Sepang for the first two rounds of the 2023 campaign.

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “It’s great to see Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand get their 2023 season underway and I’m delighted with the performance of our teams and drivers in Buiriram. We had several entries capable of victory in the GTM category, which is extremely pleasing as it’s such a competitive class. Adding the GT4 and GTC successes makes it even sweeter, so I’m excited for the rest of the season.”
