Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand set for season finale in Buriram

The 2023 Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand comes to its conclusion this weekend at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, with 11 Porsche entries competing for titles in three separate classes.

In the GTM category, Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia are hoping to clinch the championship after a stunning season so far, which has seen them claim three wins already. The Alpha Factory Racing by Pulzar duo hold a 14-point lead in the title race and will take on the final event of 2023 in the #33 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (991).

AAS Motorsport’s Nattachak Hanjitkasem and Kantadhee Kusiri are part of the chasing pack, and retain a slim chance of winning the title thanks to their two podiums so far this year. Simon Chan and Shaun Thong complete their full season entry in the Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), aiming to add to their two podium finishes in the last three races, while reigning champions Munkong and Tanart Sathienthirakul complete Porsche’s quartet of GTM entries. The brothers, competing for Mongkol Motorsports in the #15 car, have raced at selected events this year, finishing twice in the top-three last time out at Sepang.

Another pairing hoping to clinch title glory this weekend is B-Quik Absolute Racing’s Iaro Razanakoto and Chanon Asavasangsidhi. Aboard the #88 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, they’ve finished every race in the top two, winning twice and hold a 29-point lead heading to Buriram.

A trio of Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport will join them in the GT4 category, all making their first appearances of the season. Macanese duo Ho Wai Kun and DE Jesus Eurico will compete for AAS Motorsport in the #9 machine, while Kachom Chiaravanont and Nanin Indra-payoong pilot the 2W Zoomies by Autoworks Racing #59 entry. Finally, Chinese racers Zhang Tianfang and Xie Wenjun will take to the track for Absolute B-Quik Racing.

A strong season to date for 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Talent Pool Assessment participant Putera Adam has put the Malaysian racer second in the GTC standings, just five points off the lead heading into the final round. The teenager will be hoping to replicate his victory at Chang International Circuit at the season opener as he tackles the weekend in AAS Motorsport’s Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. Two further GTC entries complete Porsche’s line-up, with Sontaya Kunplome and Ian Geekie making their season debuts for Racing Spirit Thailand and B-Quik Absolute Racing respectively.

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “The final event of the 2023 season has arrived and I’m very excited to see Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand back in action. It’s been a fantastic year including plenty of success for our customers, and with teams in the fight for titles in three categories, I’m really looking forward to seeing how it pans out. We’re also delighted to have five entries taking up the challenge for the first time this season, expanding our reach in the region and building the championship further.”
