Porsche customers clinch pair of titles at Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand finale

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific’s customers secured both GTM and GT4 title glory at the final event of the Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand (PSTT) season in Buriram.

PSTT, which runs as part of the wider Thailand Super Series (TSS) came to the end of a thrilling 2023 campaign at Chang International Circuit, with Porsche entries continuing to show excellent pace.

Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia’s superb season for Alpha Factory Racing by Pulzar meant that fifth place in Saturday’s race was enough for them to take a much deserved GTM title. Porsche had further success in Round 7, with AAS Motorsport’s Nattachak Hanjitkasem and Kantadhee Kusiri leading home Fire Monkey Motorsport’s Simon Chan and Shaun Thong for a strong 1-2 finish.

Meanwhile, in the GT4 class, third was enough for Iaro Razanakoto and Chanon Asavasangsidhi to clinch their championship, also with a race to spare. AAS Motorsport’s Macanese duo Ho Wai Kun and DE Jesus Eurico claimed fourth, ahead of Kachom Chiaravanont and Nanin Indra-payoong in fifth for 2W Zoomies by Autowerks Racing. Xie Wenjun and Zhang Tianfang rounded off the Porsche entries seventh in class for B-Quik Absolute Racing.

With the titles already decided, Porsche claimed one final GTM podium of the season in Sunday's Round 8, with brothers Tanart and Munkong Sathienthirakul securing third for Mongkol Motorsports. Chan and Thong picked up fourth to complete a strong weekend, while Saturday’s winners Hanjitkasem and Kusiri followed them home in sixth. Having already been crowned champions, Davee and Chanchalia finished their campaign in eighth.

On their season debut, Kun and Eurico bagged a maiden podium with second in the GT4 class, with champions Razanakoto and Asavasangsidhi fifth. Also in their first appearances of the year, Chiaravanont and Indra-payoong picked up sixth, ahead of Wenjun and Tianfang in seventh.

Finally, in the GTC category, Australian Ian Geekie took a seventh and eighth-placed finish in the two races on his first event of the year for B-Quik Absolute Racing.

Preeda Tantemsapya, Thailand Super Series Vice President: "We are delighted to have hosted nine Porsche entries in 2023, in what has been another successful year for the Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand. We were impressed to see Porsche take two Thailand Super Series titles, in both the GTM and GT4 classes, and would like to congratulate all those involved. These successes demonstrate the speed and reliability that the Porsche brand brings to the track. Since launching the Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand within the Thailand Super Series in 2019, both competitions have experienced highly encouraging growth, welcoming drivers from a wide range of countries and regions. With the support of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific, we are sure that we can continue to expand Porsche’s presence in our series in the years to come."

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “Another hugely successful Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand season comes to a close and what a way to finish, with two titles going the way of Porsche. Jakraphan Davee and Phaophong Chanchalia have been in superb form all year and they thoroughly deserve their championship win, and it’s also great to see Iaro Razanakoto and Chanon Asavasangsidhi clinch the GT4 championship. It was amazing to have so many Porsche cars in action this weekend to finish off what has been a great 2023 for the marque in the Asia-Pacific region. Wishing everybody a fantastic Christmas and Happy New Year, and I’m already looking forward to the beginning of the 2024 campaign!”
