Premier Racing Path Takes it to the Streets of Toronto

Premier Racing has been working a strategic path to grow its program and driver Adam Adelson (Las Vegas, Nevada now living in Los Angeles). This week that path will take the Kent Moore-led organization to the city streets of Toronto for Rounds Nine and Ten of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands. Supporting the headline IndyCar Series, the Indy Toronto weekend is scheduled for races on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17.

The two 40-minute, single driver races on the 1.755-mile, 11-turn temporary circuit is the first time the Porsche one-make series has raced in Canada. It is the second time this year the Las Vegas, Nevada-based team will campaign the No. 24 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car on a street course. The first street race marked Premier’s best result in the series to-date with Adelson earning the first points of his rookie season of Carrera Cup in Rounds Three and Four at Long Beach, California. Premier scored an additional six points for the black, red and yellow 500 HP Porsche at the most recent races held at Watkins Glen International.

Street races bring compressed schedules along with the compressed confines of the walls along the circuit. The No. 24 will roll out among 16 other rear engine type 992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars on Friday for Practice 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET/6:30 a.m. PT. A second 30-minute session at 1:10 p.m./10:10 a.m. PT will give Adelson and the team final notes to ready the Premier Porsche for a 30-minute qualifying session at 9:10 a.m. ET/6:10 a.m. PT on Saturday morning. Qualifying is critical on the course, which is notoriously difficult on which to pass, particularly in cars delivered to the teams in identical form. On Saturday, July 16, Round Nine, Race One of the weekend will take the green flag at 3:35 p.m. ET/12:35 p.m. PT and the checkered at 4:15 p.m. ET/1:15 p.m. PT. Race Two (Round 10 of 16) will go green on Sunday, July 17, at 1:35 p.m. ET/10:35 a.m. PT and the checkered 40-minutes later at 2:15 p.m. ET/11:15 a.m. PT.

Live timing and scoring of all sessions as well as streaming of both races can be found at www.PorscheCarreraCup.us . The races also air live on the Peacock Streaming App.

“We're officially into the second half of the season. It's almost mind boggling to think that we're already halfway, and I couldn't think of a more exciting way to start the second half of our season than with such a crazy track like the Toronto Street Circuit. There have been many highs and many lows, but the most important thing to recognize is that we've made incredible progress since the start of the season. Watkins Glen was our most recent race in Porsche Carrera Cup, and I really felt like I began to understand the 992 GT3 Cup on a different level. I'm excited to see how my efforts as a driver and the incredible progress of the team culminate this weekend, and with a smaller field, we have the chance to bring home some really good results. I want to thank Kent and the entire team for getting us to this point, as we have faced more adversity this season than we ever have before. I know we're going to attack the next eight race weekends, especially this one, with the same gusto that we have with all of our races up to this point.”

About the track | “Concerning the track, the 1.7-mile street course is an incredibly technical one with many awkward corners and bumps comparable to Sebring, but I know that regardless of the track, the team will give me a car that will drive beautifully."

“Everywhere we go we are learning as a team. We are still in that phase where we are hot one race and not as quick at the next. The difference feels like miles, but it is really down to millimeters; that is how good the competition is everywhere we race. That is where the education comes in. Everyone on this team is learning and that process takes time, but it is all there. We will need to be at the top of our game this weekend. Carrera Cup is no joke and street circuits don’t forgive errors from anyone on the team. Adam has been good on street circuits, and he is learning the fine details of driving a GT3 Cup car. If we can bring it all together this weekend, I think we can gain on the next plateau of cars in the Pro class. That forward progression is what 2022 is about for us.”
