Proton Huber Competition wins Porsche Sports Cup Suisse title prematurely

Great joy at Proton Huber Competition and Marcelo Tomasoni after the fifth race weekend of the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse in Mugello: The Brazilian was able to secure the title in his class ahead of time. Tomasoni starts in Class 21 for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars with ABS. This means that Proton Huber Competition can extend its success story in the club sport series, as the racing team from Hofkirchen in Bavaria has already triumphed in the racing series with the Kapfinger twins in the past two years.

‘Marcelo's early title win is very well deserved,’ said a delighted Proton Huber Competition team boss Christoph Huber. ‘Throughout the season, he consistently put in the best performance of all the drivers, even if he wasn't quite at the front on the last two race weekends. He also showed an impressive improvement in performance over the course of the season. Before the season, he was a bit of a surprise package as he came to Europe from Brazil and had a lot to learn. However, he works very hard in preparation for the race weekends, so the only thing that really distinguishes him from a professional is his age. Over the course of the season, he impressively proved that he is one of the best Porsche amateur drivers!’

In Mugello, the Brazilian driver finished fifth and eighth to win the title in Class 21 ahead of schedule. His team-mate Merabi Mekvabishvili, who has also put in a strong performance this year, did not see the chequered flag in either race.

‘We would like to continue with Marcelo next year. However, we still have to discuss the exact route with him and are currently in negotiations. We would prefer to race with him in a slightly higher-class Am championship,’ concluded Huber.

Proton Huber Competition now faces another important week: the penultimate race weekend of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany takes place at the Red Bull Ring. In purely mathematical terms, Larry ten Voorde can clinch the title for the racing team there ahead of time. At the same time, the GT3 team of the Bavarian Porsche experts will start in Mugello, where the Michelin Le Mans Cup will be held.
