PSCNA Kicks Off 3rd Season of Racing at Sebring
Sebring, FL | Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama's third season of racing kickedoff off at Sebring International Raceway with two races on Friday. Both Cayman GT4 Clubsports and GT3 Cups Cars took to the track for their own respective 35 minute + 1 lap race under the Florida sunshine.
Qualifying in the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America Cayman class saw 17 year old Nick Maloy take home the WeatherTech Pole Position Award with his first race with the series with a lap time of 2:14.871. Coming in P2 during qualifying was Jodoin who was .120 off of Maloy’s pace with a lap time of 2:14.991. In the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America GT3 Cup class the Australian native Madeline Stewart with a lap time of 2:05.509. With the winning of the WeatherTech Pole Position Award, Stewart becomes the 2nd female in North American One Make Series to win the overall poll position, behind fellow series competitor Ashley Freiberg.
Winning the first North American Cayman race in the Pro/Am class for the 2023 North America Championship was John Jodoin with a P1 Overall finish. Jodoin won the Cayman race after starting the race in the second position. In 2nd place for the Cayman Pro/Am class was Paul Bocuse who took P3 Overall. Rounding out the Cayman Pro/Am podium in the 3rd position was Tillman Schmid who claimed P5 Overall. On the other side of the Cayman class was the Am class. Victorious in the Cayman Am class was Tom Kopczynski with a P2 Overall. P2 in the Cayman Am class was claimed by Jason Golan taking P4 Overall. Wrapping up the Cayman Am podium was Kathryn Mead with a P8 Overall finish.
Finishing victorious in the 992 GT3 Cup Pro/Am class and finishing the race in P1 Overall was Zachery Vanier. In 2nd place for the 992 GT3 Cup Pro/Am class was the defending Cayman Champion Aidan Kenny who took P4 Overall. Rounding out the 992 GT3 Cup Pro/Am class was the WeatherTech Pole Position Award Winner Madeline Stewart who finished P5 Overall. In the North American GT3 Cup Am class Christian Hodneland who took 2nd Overall in the Cup Race. David Williams raced his way in P2 in the 992 GT3 Cup Am Class with a P3 Overall Finish. Rounding up the Am class in the GT3 North American class was Mark Kvamme in a P6 Overall finish. On the 991 GT3 Cup side of things Ashley Freiberg won the class in a triumphant return to racing with a P8 Overall finish. Coming in 2nd place in the 991 clas was Roberto Tutino with a P12 Overall result. And wrapping up the 991 GT3 Cup with a P13 Overall result was Scott Zdanis.
