Successful month for the Porsche Sprint Challenge & Endurance Trophy Benelux

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux 2022 was thoroughly reformed for the new season and for the first appointment on Belgian soil, drivers and teams headed to Circuit Zolder for a one-day meeting on the Belgian national holiday. It was a race day in typical Belgian weather, with rain showers and therefore very challenging and unpredictable matches. At the beginning of the month, the second meeting of the season was completed at Circuit Zandvoort, on the Dutch coast, combining a trackday with a racing series.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Benelux 2022, a Benelux competition for various models of the Porsche 911 and Porsche Cayman, was due for its second and third meeting in July, each meeting lasting exactly one day. “It's a concept that the gentleman drivers who race with Porsche like, because it ties in with the track days they may have known before. Arrive in the morning and leave in the evening,” explains Lars Plato, the Series Manager. “We are doing that five times this season, three times in Zandvoort and in addition to Zolder also in Assen. In Zandvoort we saw a combination of track day and competitions, which also motivates the participants in the track day. This way they can get acquainted with our entry-level competition and see for themselves whether they are ready for it.”

At Zandvoort, the victories were overall for Flynt Schuring of Huber Racing, while Michel Arfman (Tema GP Elite) won twice in the class for the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 991. Cedric Chassang of team GP Elite was first in the Division GT4.

At Circuit Zolder there was racing on July 21, the national Belgian holiday and as so often the rainy weather was present. Flynt Schuring and Michel Arfman repeated their victories from Zandvoort and Sasha Norden (Team GP Elite) twice defied the weather gods in the Porsche Cayman GT4 competition. They also lead in their respective championships mid-season.

Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux: dress rehearsal for 24 Hours of Zolder during Spa Euro Race

As part of the Belgian National Endurance Championship or Belcar Endurance Championship, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux will also take place, with various Porsche models for endurance racing, but no GT3 or GTE models. Spa was the third circuit on the calendar, after Zolder and Magny-Cours, and also the dress rehearsal for the 24 Hours of Zolder on August 13 and 14, which is the pinnacle of the championship.

With races from 125 minutes to 24 hours on four different circuits, the Porsche Endurance Trophy Benelux in the context of the Belcar Endurance Championship is a perfect way for teams and drivers to participate in endurance races with Porsche at national level.

In Spa, the various Porsche teams proved to be ready for the big classic, as all the Porsches that started were also at the finish, including the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 - from Russell Racing by NGT in third place overall.

In Zolder on 13 and 14 August, no fewer than thirteen Porsche will compete for the victory in the Belgian endurance race with a number of international names behind the wheel of the various cars.
