Team TFT Racing commit to Porsche for second year
Team TFT Racing have committed to extending there program around the Porsche 911 GT3R for the seconded time in a row The French Teams entry into the GT3 world last year was eventful, but they did prove there worth by delivering consistent results. This first season saw a full commitment in the International GT Open in the AM category as well as in the Michelin Le Mans Cup (compulsory Pro-Am crew) with varying fortunes. The team was successful in the in the Michelin Le Mans Cup but struggled in GT Open, which was mainly down to the Balance of Performance which was not favourable to the Porsche. Despite the goodwill of the organizer, this could not be resolved during the season.
Tony Pereira (TFT Team Manager): “We owe it to ourselves to aim for the best, so this observation had an impact on our choice. With the experience acquired during this first season in GT3, we are reorienting our 2021 program with the desire to think bigger. This will be structured around two main projects, again with the Porsche 911 GT3R: confirming in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and aiming for a first participation in the 24H of Spa (crew (s) to be completed!). We are also open to the possibility of adding participations in the GT Rebellion Series or GT World Challenge to this program.
Michelin Le Mans Cup: a high-level championship behind the wheel of an exceptional car
For our first season in GT3 and therefore in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, we marked the spirits with 2 victories and a 3rd place in the championship. Being the only Porsche representative, we have shown that the Porsche 911 GT3R is a high-performance car that you have to rely on to play for victory! For this 2021 season, we are choosing to continue in this series with high goals. We will try to confirm our results for 2020. The plan is to enter two Porsche 911 GT3Rs still accompanied by Porsche Motorsport. The first will be driven by Niki Leutwiler (loyal to Team TFT Racing and supported by the Porsche Center at Oberer Zürichsee) supported by a Pro driver. A second car is being studied, places are still to be filled!
This series which drives LMP3 and GT3 offers a unique formula for all competitors: the crews must be composed of a Pro driver and an Am driver. This allows clarity and fairness between crews. The weekend format breaks down as follows: 2 free practice, 1 qualifying (reserved for the AM driver), 1 race of 2 hours. The Michelin Le Mans Cup is also an opportunity to roll the curtain for the 24h of Le Mans: it is the Road To Le Mans. Every driver hopes to live this experience one day in his career: to ride on the 24 hour circuit. Team TFT Racing offers it to you! The format changes for this race: in the program 2 qualifiers (one for each driver) and 2 races of 55 minutes.
24H of Spa (July 29-30-31 & August 1): a unique experience
It is THE benchmark for GT racing! With only GT3s on the track (divided into 4 categories depending on the composition of the teams of 3 to 4 drivers: Pro, Pro-Am, Silver and Am), the level is more than raised. This second part of our 2021 project is a real challenge. Used to endurance races in various championships (24H Series, VdeV Endurance Proto), Team TFT Racing has solid arguments to perform well in this legendary race. In addition, we offer the possibility to interested pilots to take the controls of a very powerful car: the Porsche 911 GT3R. Porsche has proven its efficiency on the Belgian circuit as it is one of the most successful constructors in the Toboggan des Ardennes. Double title holder (overall victories in 2019 and 2020), the performance pleads in favor of this car as evidenced by the 2020 ranking: 3 Porsches in the first 4 places. As Porsche Customer Team, TFT Racing can rely on the expertise and experience of one of the most recognized manufacturers.
In order to best prepare for this legendary race which will be the climax of the season, in addition to the official tests which will take place on June 22-23, we can consider participation in the endurance races of the GT Wolrd Challenge Europe which precede the 24H of Spa: Monza in April and Castellet at the end of May.
