Victories and podiums in action-packed Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand weekend

Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific celebrated a successful weekend in an historic Porsche Sprint Trophy Thailand event, alongside Thailand Super Series, which hosted its first ever night race under the Malaysian floodlights.

Friday saw the rescheduled Round 6 taking place. Prakhun Phornprapha and Warren Adulayavichitr secured the GT4 win for the 2W Zoomies outfit, with #26 B-Quik Absolute Racing of Erwin de Smit and Sathapond Veerachure taking a Am class podium.

In the GTM category, Kmik Karnasuta cliched a Pro-Am podium for #17 AAS Motorsport, whilst Simon Chan put the #10 Fire Monkey Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3 Cup on the Am podium.

On Saturday, AAS Motorsport claimed a stunning double victory in Thailand Super Series’ first ever night race. In the GTM category, Munkong Sathienthirakul joined Kmik Karnasuta, producing a brilliant display to move themselves onto the top step from the front row of the grid.

In the GT4 category, Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak was alongside Kantadhee Kusiri this time. Starting from third, the duo expertly dealt with the tricky conditions to take the win in an enthralling spectacle under the lights.

Also, #95 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport picked up an Am class win for the 2W Zoomies pair.

Unfortunately, both the #10 Fire Monkey Motorsport and #26 B-Quik Absolute Racing retired with damage, and were unable to start the final round of the event.

In Race 3, AAS Motorsport secured a GT4 overall podium with the #18 crew as the 2W Zoomies #95 finished just behind, also clinching their third Am class victory of the weekend. The #17 AAS Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3 Cup narrowly missed out on the GTM Pro-Am podium by less than two seconds.

The series now heads back to Thailand for the final round of the season, which takes place on 13-15 December at Chang International Circuit.

Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Ltd.: “It was another great event for our customers, who enjoyed a successful weekend in Sepang.  The Championship's first ever night race was fantastic and as always, it was a great spectacle with some brilliant racing across the three days.  We are already eager for the Series' finale in a few short months in Buriram”
