WeatherTech Racing Taking Momentum to Laguna Seca
Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Matt Campbell (Australia) are taking the momentum of winning the last IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road America to the next round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to run Sept. 10-12.
The duo is coming off their second win on the season and looking forward to running the WeatherTech Racing Porsche RSR at the company branded WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The circuit, located on the Monterey Peninsula, measures 2.2-miles with 11-turns, highlighted by the world-famous Corkscrew turn. MacNeil has many laps at the track in IMSA competition, historics, as well as in Ferrari Challenge races. Campbell will be making his second start at the track.
“WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has been a good track for me over the years,” MacNeil said. “I have several wins in Ferrari Challenge and was on the podium last year in GTD. The track is challenging and should be a real blast to drive in the WeatherTech Porsche RSR with its horsepower and handling. I know I will have a grin on my face when I take it through the Corkscrew for the first time at speed. We are coming off a win in the last race at Road America, so we hope to keep the car at the front this weekend in California.”
Campbell has one start at the track located two hours south of San Francisco.
“Really looking forward to the weekend,” Campbell said. “I have been there once before in the Intercontinental GT Challenge in 2019. I really enjoy the track. We are coming off having success at Road America and hopefully we can duplicate that effort this weekend.”
The IMSA WeatherTech Championship Hyundai Sports Car Championship from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will be broadcast live on NBCSN Sunday, Sept. 12 starting at 4 p.m. ET. Flag-to-flag coverage is also live on TrackPass and the NBC Sports App with the radio broadcast available on RadioLeMans.com
