Will Aspin ready to end maiden Porsche season with success at Brands Hatch

Young racer Will Aspin is set for the final two races of the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, which take place at Brands Hatch in Kent this coming weekend (October 8/9).

The teenager has had an up and down campaign for his first season in the popular and challenging series, recording one victory and six podiums in his Pro-Am class, but also enduring a rough run of races where bad luck and circumstance meant he suffered a handful of non-finishes.

However, back on the pace at Thruxton, Will returned to the podium at Silverstone and was set to make it two top three finishes, but was adjudged to have been exceeding track limits and was handed a time penalty, dropping him down the order after the race had finished.

Despite that, the youngster is aiming to end the season on a high note with two strong finishes to demonstrate his skill and ability behind the wheel of his tricky to master Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Will heads out onto the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Friday, October 7th, for two unofficial practice sessions, before a single qualifying period a day later. The first of two 17-lap races is set for 10:35 on Sunday, October 8th, with the second at 15:45 shown live on ITV4.

Will Aspin
“Last year I had some good results on the Brands Hatch GP circuit in the Ginetta GT5 Championship, with a third and two seconds, but I haven't been able to test this car on the circuit. It's tough because test days on the GP circuit are restricted and we have limited time between races.

“I think it'll be a good track for the car as it’s nice and flowing, though to be honest any track you can drive this car around is a good track to drive on, because it's such a pleasure. Porsche have made the dream of a car.

“It should be a lot cooler than the past couple of races that we've had, maybe a bit wet as well. The car seems to run better in the cooler conditions so I think it should be a good weekend. Hopefully, we'll have some good results, and that's our aim: to end the season on the high and if we do that, we can go into next year in good form and with lots of confidence.”
