A close battle for the Carrera Cup Scandinavia title with tied points at the top of the table

The race for the championship is on! With two races to go, the battle for the Carrera Cup title is closer than ever berfore. Two drivers tied with 160 points. That's the situation at the top of the table in Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia after the classic Kanonloppet at Gelleråsen Arena, Sweden's oldest racetrack, on August 17th.

In front of 7,000 spectators, Knutsson and Sundahl won one race each but Sundahl was also booked for second place and points for both pole position and fastest lap. The five-time Porsche Carrera Cup champion outscored Knutsson with eight more points and moved into the shared championship lead in the standings.

Daniel Roos took the checkered flag first in the opening heat but was stripped away of his first victory his first victory in the championship. Due to a violation in the first race, for a slight contact with Marcus Annervi, trying to pass him for the lead, he was penalized with an additional five seconds and therefore had to settle for third place behind Knutsson and Sundahl.

Behind Sundahl, Knutsson and Roos, both Marcus Annervi and the Dane Gustav Krogh were noted for strong performances. Annervi, who for a long time looked like the winner in the opening heat, bounced back strongly in heat two, finishing second behind Sundahl. Krogh took his second podium of the season by finishing third.

In the Pro Am class, Kjelle Lejonkrans won the double and climbed into the championship lead.

In the Porsche Sprint Challenge, Fragus Motorsport teammates Wilmer Wallenstam and Isabell Rustad took care of the heat victories. However, the championship is still topped by GT4 driver Theo Jernberg, who once again won the class in both races.

Several partners to the series, like Michelin, Aspen fuel and Hexis (bodyfence) were present with own activation and in the hospitality Porsche Race Lounge hosted approximately 250 guests and served a delicious summer salad by famous Swedish chef Pontus Frithiof and his team.

The second of three Sportscar Together Day was arranged at Gelleråsen Arena. Close to 400 Porsche cars showed up. A trackday was held with about 70 Porsche cars divided into two groups. Among the drivers were former New York Rangers goalkeeper and Olympic gold medalist for Sweden, Henrik Lundqvist in a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring.

In the exhibition Porsche Expo the visitors could for the first time have a look at the new 911 Carrera Cabriolet and also a Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupé with GT-package. A Taycan Cross Turismo equipped with a roof top tent, a bicycle rack and an electric bike from Porsche Tequipment was also showcased. At the same time, selected articles from Porsche Lifestyle were possible to buy.

Two races remain in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, Porsche Festival at Rudskogen Motorsenter in Norway September 6-7 and the final at Mantorp Park September 20-21.
