André Lotterer also scores points in the second Berlin race with the Porsche 99X Electric

With the Porsche 99X Electric, André Lotterer (GER/start number 36) also scored important championship points for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team in race 8 at the Berlin E-Prix on Sunday. On the apron of the historic Tempelhof Airport, he finished eighth after finishing fourth the day before, just missing out on a podium finish. His teammate Pascal Wehrlein (GER/car number 94) finished twelfth.

In the drivers' standings of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, André Lotterer is seventh after eight of 16 races with 59 points. Pascal Wehrlein follows in eighth place with 51 points. In the team classification, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team is in fifth place with 110 points.

The race 8
Fourth in qualifying, André Lotterer got off to a good start in the world's first electric racing series. On the 2.355-kilometer Tempelhof Airport Street Course, he drove his Porsche 99X Electric in the leading group for a long time and was even on course for the podium at times. In the second half of the race, he was no longer able to keep up with the fastest. Pascal Wehrlein drove a good race from 19th place on the grid. With a catch-up race worth seeing, he improved by seven places, but did not make it into the points.

Comments on the Berlin E-Prix, race 8

Florian Modlinger, overall project manager Formula E:
“André's qualifying went very well again. He is the only driver to have made it into duels in all of the season's races. That's a strong achievement. Pascal, on the other hand, didn't feel comfortable in the car and couldn't build up the necessary grip. As a result, he had no chance of a better lap time. He then drove a very solid race from 19th place. André started fourth and was initially able to ride in the leading group, even in attack mode. But the longer the race lasted, the more we lost pace compared to the competition. We'll look at that in detail when we get back. So we will take some homework with us to Weissach and will work hard to do better in the next races.”

André Lotterer, Porsche works driver (#36):“After the semi-finals in qualifying I had hoped for a bit more. But the race was difficult. The balance of the car wasn't optimal and that affected efficiency. As a result, I dropped from fourth to eighth place. After everything was good in race 7, we now have to see what caused it. It's positive that I was able to score points in both races. We definitely have a good basis for the second half of the season.”

Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche works driver (#94): “Unfortunately, qualifying didn't go well for me. I had no grip, no balance. At least our race speed was okay and I was able to make up seven places. But from this starting position it was no longer possible. It's a shame, because we could have taken a few points with us.”

And so it goes
The next race for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is the Jakarta E-Prix, round 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, on June 4th.

Porsche in Formula E
With a double victory by Pascal Wehrlein and André Lotterer in the Porsche 99X Electric, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team celebrated its greatest success to date on February 12, 2022 in Mexico. The team is contesting its third season in the world's first all-electric racing series. Lotterer ensured the successful racing debut in November 2019 when he took second place in the season-opening race in Diriyah. A made-to-measure debut and proof that Porsche had a competitive vehicle at the start with the Porsche 99X Electric. Wehrlein clinched pole position in Mexico last season. There were also two podium finishes: Wehrlein finished third in Rome and Lotterer finished second in Valencia. As an accelerator for innovative and sustainable mobility technologies, Formula E has been bringing exciting motorsport to people in the big cities since 2014. With the all-electric Taycan Turbo S, Porsche is providing the official safety car this season, underscoring the importance of Formula E for Porsche Motorsport.
