Brusa takes win at Imola in Michelin Cup
The Prima Ghinzani rider rejoices for the success in the category, which came after a weekend dominated in qualifying and almost wasted in race 1, while the chase for the title is increasingly heated and changes the leader in the standings again: Fenici by just one point over De Amicis...
Not only an absolute ranking that is fully back in balance. The Porsche Carrera Cup Italia boasts a Michelin Cup from... battle. In the category, the balance has never been lacking, but this year the alternation at the top of the races and the standings and the duels on the track are really at the top of the competition. At Imola, in race 2 of the fourth round this afternoon, Cesare Brusa's first and somewhat long-awaited center also arrived.
The driver from Bergamo of Prima Ghinzani is in his first season in the Italian one-make series and therefore pays for some experience to the competition. On the Santerno circuit, one of the most complex, however, he really dominated in qualifying and after experiencing a more complicated race 1 than expected in race 2 he conducted a flag-to-flag that was never in question and won in the most difficult conditions, that is, in the wet, although not extreme.
"Today went well and I'm happy – Brusa then exulted -; Unfortunately we wasted yesterday's race, when I started too conservative, thinking I had a margin. A factor that was actually just in my head. In race 2, on the other hand, we won well, I was among the Pros and I had a good feeling with the car even though I had never actually driven it in these conditions. I'm happy and we also needed it for morale. Now Vallelunga, it's not my favourite track but we'll work hard like we did here in Imola."
Certainly the title contenders will have to engage, which are actually different and at the moment are led by Francesco Fenici, twice second in a comeback at Imola with Raptor Engineering and re-jumped to the top alone after the interregnum of a night of the reigning champion Alberto De Amicis, who with Ebimotors had won race 1.
The gaps are however minimal, just one point between the two and certainly not abysmal compared to the pursuers: in fact, in Vallelunga, in two weeks' time, right on the home circuit of Fenici and De Amicis, we start from scratch...
